Cap and Trade Basics

May 22, 2009 - by Donny Shaw

Marketplace’s Paddy Hirsch goes over the basics of cap and trade. This is the, essentially, the policy mechanism at the center of the climate change bill going through Congress, the American Clean Energy And Security Act of 2009.

what is entirely left out of the above video is that everyone will pay the cap and trade tax. businesses will pass their expenses on to the consumers. this is a well known fact in any basic economics course. this will take more spending power away from the american people. another thing to note that thus far 6/29/‘09 this bill was passed through congress in less than 2 hours. this makes sense given that ALL BUSINESSES IN AMERICA don’t want this and they have enormous LOBBYING POWER! support a free market system and not a command and control one!!!!!!

This is just another way for this administration to waste the tax payers money; give zero percent interest loans to their buddies, increase the cost of our electric bills by requiring power companies to install power connections in rest stops, parking lots and anywhere the new electric vehicles will stop so they can recharge, along with the additional expense of monitoring who is getting this power, which some people will quickly learn how to cheat the system. All of this and more over Global Warming, which hasn’t been proven to be a fact. Just because Al Gore and a few scientist who are kissing his a— say it’s so, doesn’t make it fact. Until the politicians can learn to work together, they need to not make any big decisions anymore. They’re really mucking things up for a long time to come. I’ll be glad when the next elections come around and they are all replaced.

Talk about a real economy killer. This type of legislation can never work when the rest of the world doesn’t play by the same rules.

I watched the video but the overall concept does not make much sense to me.
