TPMMuckraker has been following the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing with former head of the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice Bradley Schlozman. Really interesting stuff.

“Six weeks ago the Democrats held a 24-point lead over Bush as the stronger leadership force in Washington; today that’s collapsed to a dead heat. The Democrats’ overall job approval rating likewise has dropped, from a 54 percent majority to 44 percent now — with the decline occurring almost exclusively among strong opponents of the Iraq War.” – ABC News

“Indicted Rep. William Jefferson (D-La.) has resigned — temporarily, he says — his last remaining committee assignment, a seat on the Small Business Committee. Jefferson sent a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) this morning informing her of his decision, Democratic aides said.” – The Crypt
