Down with the GOP and hail all the Dems who have compassion and realize that bad things do happen to good people. I think PUBLIC SERVANTS of both parties should make NO MORE than $40K a year. That would give them some perspective on how it is to be a real American…and I doubt if 40K is even the avg salary, it’s probably a little on the high side but they do have a tough job. I just don’t see how one American can do this to another American. Shame on whoever yelled NAY for this bill. I hope the Dems really pound this point home in November so that in the future we will have REAL people in the Senate instead of a bunch of old people out of touch with reality. I mean come on…NO BENEFITS for the unemployed!?!?! LOL What do they think is going to happen to the economy, the homeless rate, the poverty line, the morale, the housing market, families, etc? The answer….THEY DON’T CARE.

Americans still have a long ways to go. The money and power is still going to the hands of politicians, Special Interests groups, big corporations, and a few wealthy families.

The greatest damage was caused from 2000-2008. USA’s lower and middle income households will continue to struggle and feel powerless. This is not good for our nation.
It has become solely about contributions like these:
Contributors to Federal Candidates and Parties
INSURANCE: 2000-2010 Total $214,585,915
OIL & GAS: 2000-2010 Total $155,373,800
COMMERCIAL BANKS: 2000-2010 Total $150,549,225
PHARMACEUTICALS/HEALTH PRODUCTS: 2000-2010 Total $139,237,802

Top 5 Contributions from Oil&Gas Industry 2009-2010:
1 Koch Industries $724,300 14% Dems, 86%Repubs
2 Exxon Mobil $548,214 13% Dems, 87% Repubs
3 Chevron Corp $516,891 18% Dems, 82% Repubs
4 Valero Energy $467,000 17% Dems, 83% Repubs
5 Marathon Oil $378,190 23% Dems, 76% Repubs

there will never be a teir 5 as long as the democrats believe that if they do nothing that the republicans will take the blame.

This is not a democrat vs republican thing, if the democrats were on your side they would have proposed a tier 5

The dems and republicans are on the same side we are on the other

Very well said:
DNC spokesman Hari Sevugan unloads:

“Republicans lost the election. Republicans lost the debate. And now they’ve lost any moral authority they may have had. This is the kind of small minded, mean-spirited typical Washington politics that the American people are sick of. It’s petty. It’s mean. And come this November it will no longer be tolerated.”

THE WHOLE SAD TRUTH IS THAT WE PEOPLE WILL HAVE TO BE EATING THE CRAP OF EVERY POLITICIAN FOR THE REST OF OUR LIVES. ALL OF THE SO CALLED- “FRIENDS ACROSS THE AISLE”, NO MATTER WHICH PARTY THEY ARE, ARE VERY WELL PAID, HAVE NO WORRIES EVEN WHEN THEY ARE NO LONGER IN THE SENATE, WILL NEVER WANT FOR ANYTHING AND NEITHER WILL THEIR “CHILDREN OR GRANDCHILDREN”. SO WE CAN RANT AND RAVE AS LONG AS WE WANT BUT THEY STILL HOLD THE PUPPET STRINGS ON ALL OF OUR LIVES. THESE PAST ALMOST 2 MONTHS HAVE CERTAINLY PROVEN THAT!!!!!

I’ll assume that your 78’ is your birth year because it’s not your age. If you don’t like the system go to Haiti, but if you mean to tell me that your breaking news is that politicians are greedy, selfish, manipulative people than you my friend are waaay behind the 8-ball, that or you snorted a few before you wrote that I need toi grow up. I’m grown enough to know that right nwo the Republicans are stiopping me from paying my bills, and guess what asshole, if it benefits him/her than an incumbent will do the same. Thats the system. It has been since the government was formed. All I know is that TODAY, right now its the Republicans holding up my money so fuck them. When the Dems fuck me I’ll say the same to them, kind of like I’m saying to you right now.

IN OTHER WORDS, ANY RECOVERY WILL BE SLOW. LET’S START NOW TO HELP AVOID THE CRAP WE ARE CURRENTLY GOING THROUGH.

P.S. PLEASE FORWARD THE PETITION LINK TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS TO SIGN. WE STILL NEED 11,000+ SIGNATURES TO REACH THE 50,000 GOAL.

The story was true when it was printed. They did hold it up, but stopped
because they would be late to “Happy Hour”. They still wasted a full day
and really if they had moved on it yesterday it could have been on the
President desk yesterday and the wheels could have been turning. Now
they won’t start turning till next week. Why do you stick up for the
RepubliCONS?

reid took out the extra $25 a week not the republicans, the republicans proposed to keep the $25 and still pay for the health insurance that Reid took out of the bill.

in reply to theunemployed Jul 21, 2010 2:05pm

The way it works is:

1.The Senate has to pass it (that happened today)
2.The House of Reps has to pass it (they are voting tomorrow)
3.The bill than goes to my man Obama who will sign it immediately (this should also happen tomorrow)
4.As soon as the bill is law, states will implement the retro payout policy which will vary according to your situation and your state)
5.Everybody vote Democrat and the middle class will be alright

It is boring on CSPAN but at least you get to hear the words right from their
own mouths. I can’t believe the outright lies and distortions.
They were debating it a few minutes ago, the RepubliCONS want it paid for through
the unused stimulus funds. It will be voted through I’m sure, but when I do not
know?

Kerlynne 07/21/2010 11:17am

That’s great Abara cadabera, but I don’t get my info (especially when it comes to my money) off blog sites. According to the state of MD unemployment office, which I visited in person yesterday, all retroactive benefits that have been filed for already will be deposited in accounts no less a week after the bill becomes law. I don’t know Republican states like the one you prob live in but in MD we realize that people need help and our unemployment office knows we need help. You prob have a job or are still getting benefits because you you sound like you dont get it bro. You are probably furious this bill passed.

theunemployed 07/21/2010 2:13pm

You sir have been shown the rabbit hole. The choice is yours to continue to be blinded by party allegiances that are inherently an illusion, or you can go take a look at what is really going on.

And the Tea Party has already been corrupted so NO, I don’t ally myself with them either.

Have a good day. God Bless and congratulations to you and all of us for our small victory this day.

mom2304 07/21/2010 2:13pm

Hi you guys, please help me out! Yesterday after 3 weeks I finally got to talk to someone from the unemployment office, I had to call my state representative to make this happen. A very rude woman told me that I would not be eligible for Tier 3 because my benefits exhausted too late (June 3rd) and that this extension was for those that had benefits that ended in May. Then she went on to say that I should still continue to check for updates on website because depending on legislation I may be eligible. This doesn’t make sense to me or I must be really confused about what this extension means for everyone. I live in Louisiana. Thank you to anyone who can help!
