Hi you guys, please help me out! Yesterday after 3 weeks I finally got to talk to someone from the unemployment office, I had to call my state representative to make this happen. A very rude woman told me that I would not be eligible for Tier 3 because my benefits exhausted too late (June 3rd) and that this extension was for those that had benefits that ended in May. Then she went on to say that I should still continue to check for updates on website because depending on legislation I may be eligible. This doesn’t make sense to me or I must be really confused about what this extension means for everyone. I live in Louisiana. Thank you to anyone who can help!

I found this info, and hopefull it helps… this extension is for those whose benefits didn’t run out before june 2nd.. so in other words if your benefits ended june 14th, you would not be able to move on to the next tier without this extension that is being passed… I am pretty sure that is how it works..

This is another sad day for hardworking, unemployed U.S. Citizens. It’s already 7:30 p.m. EST. Once again, the Republicans have held up the vote on HR 4213 until the end. This should not have been a battle of the parties. It simply should have been a time to do the right thing for all of us that have worked tirelessly for many years. When passed, will this bill allow those of us that are in the middle of either a tier or 20 weeks of extended state benefits to continue to file or will all benefits end on November 30?

“I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a result of the war, corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands, and the Republic is destroyed. I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before, even in the midst of war.” –

    Very well said:
    DNC spokesman Hari Sevugan unloads:

“Republicans lost the election. Republicans lost the debate. And now they’ve lost any moral authority they may have had. This is the kind of small minded, mean-spirited typical Washington politics that the American people are sick of. It’s petty. It’s mean. And come this November it will no longer be tolerated.”

chelly that story was already proven to be a lie hours ago , why would you paost it after it has already been refuted, the bill already passed and it hasn’t been 30 hours.

The story was true when it was printed. They did hold it up, but stopped
because they would be late to “Happy Hour”. They still wasted a full day
and really if they had moved on it yesterday it could have been on the
President desk yesterday and the wheels could have been turning. Now
they won’t start turning till next week. Why do you stick up for the
    RepubliCONS?

I am not sticking up for the republicans just pointing out lies in the media, that story was never true,

The republicans never objected when Reid called for a vote, that story was printed before Reid asked for a vote, Reid could have asked for a vote yesterday but he did not. For that story to have been true reid would have had to have asked for a vote and a republican would have had to have objected, that never happend.

All in all the repubicans suck turd but unless people are aware of what is really going on in Washington they will not know what needs to be changed, every republican in the senate with exception of one needs to go, as do many of the democrats starting with reid he has blocked more extensions then the republicans have but that never makes the news, people need to know what is going on.

I hope that all the people new to opencogress and the sunlight foundation will stick around even after this bill passes.

open government and providing people with real information as it happens is a game changer for politics in the US.

When people pay attention they can not be manipulated by the media. That is what happened today, the media lied many people fell for it but now many people probably had moment of enlightenment after catching the media in a blatant lie. It happens all the time and opencongress is great at making sure people know what is really going on.

If you pay attention you will catch the media telling lies all the time. You will learn to see things through your own eyes and not the media’s eyes.

the whole democrat vs republican thing is stupid, should Ben Nelson a Democrat be re-elected because he is a democrate even though he votes againd uenpoyment benefits? Should Coburn loose is job because he is a republican even though he he is one of only two senators pushing for a 5th teir of unemployment benefits.
Or Snow, should she loose her job even though she always votes to support extensions.

The Parties are both playing games this bill could have easily passed in march but pelosi would not let it happen. Both parties win when they play games like this, the republicans can say we want to extentend beneits but the dems won;t let us, then the dems can say we want to pass extensions but the Rs won;t let us, both parties win with motivated voters and we loose. few pwoplw take the time to go to places like opencongress to see what is really going on.

    Abaratarrr 07/21/2010 7:43pm

so you posted a lie because you though the lie sounded good?

I said nothing that was not true I was pointing out were people were repeating the same lie over and over again, I became quite frustrated after the same people kept posting the same lie over and over again after they knew it was a lie.
I started to get the impression that a couple people here were being deceptive on purpose to try to manipulate and influence others, they were also mean to me for telling the truth before my posts took a negative and a “I told you so” tone. It may not be right but they were mean to me first and I think they deserved to be called out.
