The Week Ahead
August 8, 2010 - by Donny Shaw
It’s August recess, but the House will be back in session for a few hours this week to vote on a bill that the Senate passed last week to help retain teaching jobs and across the country help states pay for Medicaid. The bill, now known at the Education Jobs and Medicaid Assistance Act, is scheduled to be voted on Tuesday.
Here’s the official House schedule for the week:
First Vote of the Week… Tuesday 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Last Vote Predicted… Tuesday 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.MONDAY, AUGUST 9, 2010
On Monday, the House will meet at 7:00 p.m. in pro forma session. No votes are expected in the House.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 10, 2010
On Tuesday, the House will meet at 10:00 a.m. for legislative business.
Senate Amendment to H.R. 1586 – Education Jobs and Medicaid Assistance Act (Reps. Obey/Levin/Waxman – Appropriations/Ways and Means/Energy and Commerce) (Subject to a Rule)
This should pass easily throuh the House on Tuesday, and it’s expected to be signed into law by President Obama later in the week.
As The Hill Reports, Republicans are going to try and keep the House in session a little longer to vote on a resolution that would prevent Congress from reconvening after the November elections for a lame-duck session unless there was a national emergency. The bill was introduced on Thursday as a privileged resolution, which, under House rules, means that it must come to the floor for a vote within two legislative days of its introduction. Since Monday’s session is only pro forma, that means Tuesday.
The Senate will be out of session all week and isn’t scheduled to return to consider legislation until September 13th.

This is really really bad for us,
so if pelosi is not going to allow a vote on 3706 until after the election that would mean there will be no vote until January at the soonest. That means no help for the 99ers until march of 2011 at the soonest we can not let that happen.
please leave Nancy Pelosi a message at
(415) 556-4862 & (202) 225-4965.
Please be nice we want them to want to help us
they are in session this week, if pelosi will allow a vote on companion legislation for 3706 it will pass, Its up to Nancy at this point, please call her at least once a day. She graciously called the house back in session to help government employees and people with union jobs she can help us too while they are there. she could add 3706 as an amendment to 1586 tomorrow it would be guaranteed to pass. All we need is for one congressperson to attach 3706 to 1586.
Teacher have a strong union, the unemployed do not.
