nope, after 2 year of unemployment people are no longer considered unemployed, .next year the survey question changes and people unemployed up to 5 years will be counted, but for Donny he is absolutely correct.

Do you realize just how many of the “long term employed” that these hypocritical, heartless, Dictators have duped into thinking they are included in this Tax Cut Debacle? Many 99er’s THINK they fall into this bracket!! I have 3 friends who are 99er’s and they thought they were included because of Jake Tapper OPENLY LYING on World News Tonight last Friday Night that 9 MILLION unemployed people will get benefits!! He out and out LIED!!!! Typical of ABC – very Republican Biased Millionaires themselves!! Also, many of the current unemployed, the 2 million they keep referring to, are on their last Tier 4 or State Extended benefits and THEN their benefits will stop!!! They THINK they are going to get it until Dec. 2011!!! The unemployed HOSTGES were used and then DUPED by EVERYONE – the “DICTATORS”, the NEWS MEDIA – EVERYONE!!!! Of those 2 million “long termed” unemployed HOSTAGES, approx. 30,000 per month will be losing their benefits but they do not even know it!!! Look out then!!

If the government extends benefits to the 99ers, they will have to add them back into the count for the unemployed. Anyone that has expended all their unemployment benefits are no longer counted. They have just dropped off the radar. If the 99ers are added back into the count, the country will be able to see just how bad things are. Now everytime the count goes down, the politicians pat themselves on the back. It doesn’t mean that people are working. It just means that fewer people are receiving unemployment benefits.

President Obama, I voted for him. I stood up for him against my good friend of 30 years. I so sad that I owe her an apology. The President could have done more, he could have insisted that additional weeks are added to Tier IV and that there was a Tier V added, but what did he do,ask for 13 weeks of what was already in place. IT IS NOT OUR FAULTS THAT THERE ARE NO JOBS! We are getting blamed for it.

Please fax this link to all of the news media, the House of Representatives and ask if this is what out country has been reduced to. Please don’t let up because if and when jobs are available, we are going to have to go back to work and pay taxes for them to appropriate as they see fit. FACT: If you have exhausted all available Tiers of benefits already, HR 4853 WILL NOT HELP YOU AT ALL.

FACT: If you are on Tier 2 now (or soon will be) and your state does not meet the state UI % threshold for Tiers 3 and or 4, HR 4853 WILL NOT HELP YOU AT ALL and after 14 weeks of Tier 2 you will have no more UI at all.

FACT: If you are collecting now on your original 26 weeks of State benefits and your state does not meet the state UI % threshold for Tiers 3 and or 4, HR 4853 WILL NOT HELP YOU COLLECT past the additional 20 weeks in Tier 1 + 14 weeks of Tier 2 That = 36 weeks or a about 8 months NOT 13 Months.

If you think that 8 months is enough time to land a job in this terrible economy, just consider that millions of Americans have been unsuccessful in landing any job for well over 2.5 years of desperate searching. Including 9 months now without any UI benefits – of course I am referring to the 99ers.

I seriously feel for these people as I was unemployed as of FEB 2010 up to recently. I just nabbed a job with the federal gov’t and in times like these I’ll take that over a private sector job any day. Most 99’ers are not unemployed by CHOICE. It is not a free ride and it is not easy to just “go get a job”… In the 10 months that I had been looking for work I got a bit desperate and I too applied for the “any” jobs and they looked at my last salary, which was in the 85K bracket, & for the most part said, ‘no thank you…’ They know someone with real life experience/career history is GONE as soon as something better comes along. So it really isn’t as “simple” as some people want to believe it is. In the 10 months it took to get a job offer I had to have applied for at minimum of 2 jobs a day, meaning at least 400 applications, & plenty which consisted of PACKAGES & of all those applications I had gotten a total of 4 interviews. So what does that tell you about the current job market!?

I think it’s absolutely ridiculous that one you’ve reached the 99th week of unemployment benefits than we are no longer classified as part of the workforce. I haven’t worked since May 2007 and I’ve been filing out applications everyday. I have been aware that those of us who have exhausted all of our benefits are no longer calculated into the unemployment claims equation but it doesn’t change the fact that we have not been able to return to the workforce through no fault of our own. In addition, the individuals that we vote into Congress are smarter (or suppose to be smarter) than your typical individuals so I’m sure that they are aware of the impact of their ignorance to putting citizens before politics is having on the economy. I am going to initiate another claim for benefits, even though I am aware that it is going to be denied due to no additional tiers, and I suggest you all do the same. Maybe if we bombard their system with claims they’ll change their minds.

Never get into a battle of wits with an unarmed person is my motto, but for you I would make an exception, since it`s YOU who are calling people names, and once again come trolling this site to spew your vile nonsense on an emotional day. And by the way how many jobs can one look for at night, or can`t you read a clock or tell time. I never did like homeschooling, especially for people with special needs. And as an aside, my free ride, and next interview and job, is obviously, and thankfully, not in your hands whiner.

@cszalai: Magnify your ME ME ME reply about 1.5 Million times and we see why those recently unemployed who benefited from HR 4213 2 times, didn’t fight to help the 99ers when they needed it earlier this year and again a few mos ago. As you said selfishly it all about ME ME ME and let the bodies fall. You are one of those folks that would cut the baby in half and I hope your conscience is clear because the extension for those on HR 4213 is not what you believe it to be and you will feel what the 99ers feel sooner than you think.

I think that we should continue to contact the House of Representatives to let them know that we so desperately need additional weeks added and a Tier V. If not, they SHOULD NOT pass the bill. Let taxes go up for the wealthy and by the time that they figure out that additional weeks are mandatory there will be some money to pay for it. I want the other unemployment Americans to get their checks. I am sorry if I selfish, but I feel that we all need to get paid and the only way to insure that is for the House of Representatives not to pass this bill, send it back and demand changes. They should have a standoff with the Republicans. If the Republicans are resigned to the unemployed not having money to exist on then they should not get this lavish tax deal at our expense. It’s not right!!!!!

@Checkless: You are right but its not going to happen because of the selfishness and greed that reigns supreme in this country. If ALL of the unemployed had been in sinc and fighting for UI extensions mos ago for ALL of the unemployed then it would have happened but the HR 4213 recently unemployed disappeared after the bill was passed and came back boo hooing once again. 99ers GOD BLESS YOU! I hope they call sleep well at night knowing they got a limited UI extension and will get a rude-awakening in January. It was wrong what they did because they didn’t fight for the 99ers and some will say they did and SOME did but MOST did not.

Now for the other side of the coin…. unemployment gets extended i keep my home, when things break and wear out i have some way of getting it (hint why do you think the spending numbers keep going up and down) not things like dishwashers but clothes wearing out, kids outgrowing and wearing out clothes, vehicles breaking down, etc., and i can make myself presentable when i do finally get a job interview

I don’t care who’s fault it is I need to keep money coming in and i don’t care where it comes from as long as it gives me enough money to keep our 5 lives going till i find something to get me and my family on our feet, I’ve paid taxes supporting our government since i was 16yrs old, I’m 43 now. You know what quitwhinning you got the fact that FUTA is paid by the employer right.
But they only pay $434 per employee making $7000. (6.2% of the first $7000)
By my estimates using workforce estimate of 230 employees that would mean 99 BILLION DOLLARS have been collected every year. Multiply that by 10 years of low unemployment.
Since unemployment was low until 2008 there is plenty of money for an extension of benefits to the 99er’s.
It’s not that we want to blame or point fingers at anyone, we want to work, we need to work, there are just no jobs to be found regardless of our “standards”.

Ok i got a job in fact i got 2 plus i am attending college full time i have a wife that works and 3 kids….. one job pay minimum wage and the other just above but it is only a 12hr rec….. i don’t even make enough to disqualify myself from unemployment…. also you said a job any job well how are we all to do that when in Michigan were i am for every vacant job out there, there are 5 people applying for it so even if every job got filled tomorrow the unemployment rate would only drop by 1/5th what it is now…. I went from $800wk working to about that every two weeks and when unemployment runs out (if it hasn’t already because of the cut off on Nov 30) in January i will drop to $600mth….. Ok so i got two jobs i am educating myself to get into a growing field) i graduate in June of 2012 with an associate degree…. but here’s the biggest problem NO

futa is used for administration costs not benefits, it pays the salaries and water bills at the unemployment offices.

get ready Washington, this is just the tip of the ice burg, people are desperate and have nothing to loose, please provide more weeks of benefits for the long term unemployed. This bill does not help the long term unemployed, Obama lied to the nation when he said that the bill extends unemployment for 13 months, the bill just extends the deadline to sign up for the current benefits, it provides no new weeks, this is why this man is dead.

EXPERIENCE!!! As i said i live in Michigan i got rid of my 2006 dodge ram a long time ago my wife drives a older dodge and i drive a 94 bronco….. with a 1000mth house pmt and living in a cold weather area how low do you say i drop my standards… live in the tent sitting in my garage in -30 weather in the park or better yet a family of 5 sleeping in a bronco with the engine idling all night to stay warm, then who is going to hire a homeless educated person, and where am i to take showers? And take care of other personal needs…. by the way my dad moved to Texas, my mom passed, so i have nowhere to go
