Obama Resigns from the Senate

November 13, 2008 - by Donny Shaw

His resignation will be effective on Sunday. His office released the following statement this afternoon (via email):

>"It has been one of the highest honors and privileges of my life to have served the people of Illinois in the United States Senate. In a state that represents the crossroads of a nation, I have met so many men and women who’ve taken different journeys, but hold common hopes for their children’s future. It is these Illinois families and their stories that will stay with me as I leave the United States Senate and begin the hard task of fulfilling the simple hopes and common dreams of all Americans as our nation’s next President," said President-elect Barack Obama.

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, a Democrat, will have 60 days to appoint a replacement to fill Obama’s seat for the next session of Congress. Chris Cillizza at The Fix takes a look at some of the likely appointees.

Mr. Obama is very busy devising new and not-so-new ideas on how to stifle industry and business – http://www.ebook-search-queen.com/ebook/bara/barack+obama.all.html . This is yet another way that government, that creates nothing, will hinder growth in another industry, thereby cutting growth in the economy. In plain terms, more fees, less profit, less new jobs, less tax revenue from people with jobs that pay taxes. Great strategy!
