Taxpayers For Common Sense has released their database of all the earmarks in the FY 2009 Omnibus appropriations bill. They have tabulated all the Senate earmark recipients, and they’ll be doing the House soon. Here are the top ten winners of earmark money in the omnibus:

1. Sen. Robert Byrd [D, WV] – $122,804,900
2. Sen. Richard Shelby [R, AL] – $114,484,250
3. Sen. Christopher Bond [R, MO] – $85,691,491
4. Sen. Dianne Feinstein [D, CA] $76,899,425
5. Sen. Thad Cochran [R, MS] – $75,908,475
6. Sen. Lisa Murkowski [R, AK] – $74,000,750
7. Sen. Thomas Harkin [D, IA] – $66,860,000
8. Sen. James Inhofe [R, OK] – $53,133,500
9. Sen. Mitch McConnell [R, KY] – $51,186,000
10. Sen. Daniel Inouye [D, HI] – $46,380,205

    Every country that registered its guns lost the right to own them less than 10 years later. Police should do statistics on where guns come from. Sure some are stolen from homes, but most send a “straw man/women” to a dealer to buy them or get them from the weapns the US gave the Iraqis to defend them selves or to the Afghans. Arms dealers are in it for profit. Sell to Mexico and voila! Now the cartels have sofisticated weapons to make war on the US. If someone breaks into your home to take your wife or daughter hostage for money, wouldn’t you like to be able to defend your home? With our current economy and pending collapse, home invasions will escalate. I don’t intend to be a victim!
