    To All:
for the most concise answers to your questions, go to www2398.ssldomain.com/nlihc/detail/article.cfm?article_id=5223&id=19. This is the National Low Income Housing Coalition. All of the answers to your questions are the in plainspeak.

Here is the text of letter I sent to Sen. Frank Lautenberg (NJ)based on the info I found on that site:

Frank Lautenberg,I am a 60 year old lifetime resident of NJ, now 100% disabled and living on an SSI grant that at present is $668. I have a Section 8 houisin voucher and live in a property owned by The Applied Housing Company. Because of the mess HUD has made of the PHA payments and continued rent increases, I am now paying 52% of my income in rent, most of it to cover the portion that HUD will not pay. I am, in essence, paying the governments share myself.
These increases plus my normal monthly household expenses leave me with approximately $16 to live on each month. This is not “housing assistence.” It is more like forced eviction.

I respectfully submit that the Senate take action on HR1851 Section 8 Voucher Reform Act, which has passed in the House and submitted to the Senate Appropriations Committee. Senate in July.
