It is very disappointing to Heaven’s Miraculous Angelic Giving Inspirational Child, Inc., that our government spends 42 million dollars on letters about a tax refund, billions in Iraq, and yet the G.I.V.E. Act struggles for acceptance.

Heaven’s Miraculous Angelic Giving Inspirational Child, Inc. would thrive in a country that embraces the G.I.V.E. Act.

    Service-Learning has immeasurable value!!

Check out “The U.T.O.P.I.A. Project” and discover the power of Service-Learning for yourself.

Pay close attention to the U.T.O.P.I.A. System and please listen to the beginning message.

    http://www.heavensmagic.org

If they don’t pass the G.I.V.E. Act, “We the People” will have to GIVE more of our tax money for prisons, GIVE more of our tax money for drug and alcohol abuse, GIVE more of our tax money for teenage pregnancy, and GIVE more of our tax money for welfare.

The G.I.V.E. Act and a proactive approach seems so much more logical, supportive, and responsible.

A vote for Service-Learning and support for Service-Learning will enrich this country, its youth, and its educators. It will also keep more money in your wallet in the long run.

When you realize how valuable Service-Learning is, please call your representatives and persuade them to pass the G.I.V.E. Act.

God Bless all who support the G.I.V.E. Act!

    Sincerely,
    Laura Ann Osterman

Yes it is disappointing to have a hypocritical government “our government spends 42 million dollars on letters about a tax refund, billions in Iraq, and yet the G.I.V.E. Act struggles for acceptance” vote Ron Paul!!!!! no IRS means we’d save $42 million on tax letters. Billions nearing trillions on Iraq, but GIVE? Assume some personal responsibility in your own higher education. I am a high school drop out, yet I understand that if the government got out of education and stayed out, no child left behind would not have come into existence and college would actually be affordable.

You are so correct. If the federal government stayed out of public education we would have less dropouts. Smaller schools, involved parents, caring, mature “adult” principals and teachers who actually are concerned with the safety of students, and the teaching of intelligent basic subjects, rather than indoctrination of agendas, would foster a love for learning and a curiousity about the world – to always question, and never blindly accept. Bring back affordable trade colleges and universities for those who want a scholarly education. Take the greedy money making ‘business’ out of higher learning. But the first priority in compulsory education is to maintain a safe and caring environment in which to learn.

We pay billions to save the rhinocerous, and other programs not in the United States and cannot support our own. (Take a look at the grants going out of this country). I want my taxes to support individuals in the United States that need our help. One of the best ways to do this is to support service learning. It not only helps the individuals who need it, it also helps the individual volunteering.

What about about giving Federal service credit to AmeriCorps members in ALL programs? Doesn’t their year of service count even though the funding for their programs didn’t come DIRECTLY from the Feds?
Honor those who serve! Give ALL AmeriCorps Alums federal service credit for their year of service!!!

  • meliorism 03/20/2009 8:27am

The concept of mandatory national service is a direct violation of the 13th amendment. More to the point, the services we are ordered to “volunteer” are the ones we were told our taxes were paying for. So where did the money go? Why are we paying taxes for services we are now expected to do for ourselves?

Thank You!!!! UNCONSTITUTIONAL!!. You liberal idiots just don’t get it. My child will not attend any school system that requires community service. I’ll also rot in jail before I perform involuntary service. If I abide by the laws and pay taxes that is the only thing that is required of me to be an american. You want to give your time to volunteering…go right ahead, but call it what it is and what it should be…VOLUNTEERING. Liberals. Jesus.

Perhaps we are so long removed from the origination of a free society that we have forgotten its price. Perhaps we have forgotten what freedom is: the absence of government coercion. Perhaps we have forgotten that truly beneficial policies almost always stand on their own merit, without the aid of massive government enforcement agencies.

  • meliorism 03/20/2009 8:54am

Perhaps we have begun to take liberty for granted, so we allow it to be chiseled away each year by just a few more taxes, just a few more regulations, just a few more unconstitutional spending programs, just a few more harmless potheads turned into untouchable felons, just a few more unwarranted surveillance operations, just a few more troops on our streets to suppress the political dissenters, just a few more unfounded arrests and detainments, just a few more unnecessary casualties in the never-ending war for universal authority, just a few more computerized balloting systems, and just a little bit more government control.

  • meliorism 03/20/2009 8:54am

After all, most of us feel we can still go about our business uninterrupted by these controls and live adequately, if not freely. I fear now that by the time we realize that this is no longer true, by the time our old friends and fellow citizens–educated, hard-working, freedom-loving people of integrity–are declared dangerous enemies of the state, it will be too late to change the authoritarian direction of our nation, and it will be easier for us to act nationalistic and tolerated, silent and unencumbered, compliant and alive, than to be honest and endangered, righteous and imprisoned, patriotic and dead.

The false patriots will have won, successfully driving freedom out of the only safe harbor it has ever known. American freedom, having long treaded in tempestuous weather, is drowning in the vast seas of prosperity and contentment it produced. Its only lifeline is We The People.

  • MandyJ 03/27/2009 10:39am

Really? I thought we were trying to get out of debt. We do not need more programs we need to eliminate them. This will work almost like Hitler’s youth indoctrination camps.

Precisely. I couldn’t agree more! What fools these mortals be -

  • honeyfromthelion 03/28/2009 5:22pm

Is history repeating itself? Are our children being trained to become like Hitler’s Brown Shirts?

  • jennymom 03/28/2009 11:24pm

YES honey youare absolutely right. THis kind of legislation needs to be stopped. Mandatory volunteerism – should only be the kind you mom or dad makes you do , not the GOVERNMENT!

  • ashlee7 04/03/2009 11:24am

Finally smart people started commenting. Honestly some people need to go look up HITLER…they obviously where ditching school when WWII was getting taught. Also, what is the point of using the word VOLUNTEER at all? if it mandatory, just say it is MANDATORY. Not this nonsense of it being “Mandatory VOLUNTEERISM”…that is bs…
If it is mandatory, then it is clearly has nothing to do with volunteering. I laugh at all the younger ones who voted for Obama. Though I feel if you did NOT vote for him, then you shouldn’t have to do this, maybe it’ll teach people not to vote for someone “cause there black”….oh also, all the people that like this idea, if Bush came out with it, you would ALL hate it and it never would’ve gotten passed…you people never will admit this, but that is the truth. Obama is like Hitler, comes around when the country needs help and promises bs, then BAM takes over the world!

  • mabaker 04/05/2009 3:20pm

The word volunteer is a noun. The definition of volunteer is a person who voluntarily offers himself or herself for a service or undertaking.
NOWHERE in this definition does it state mandatory. I volunteer my time and I am teaching my children about volunteering by my example. Is the President going to volunteer his time in the next four years? Just wondering.

  • chrsswtzr 04/24/2009 5:07pm

Are you kidding me? When I think of the GIVE Act I think of one word. Unconstitutional. The governments coercion needs to end. We need to restore the republic of this country! This is not the direction that we need to take. The GIVE Act is a farce.
