Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am an Iraqi national who proudly served the U.S. military forces in Iraq for 3 years as a translator/linguist. In September 2008, I immigrated to Washington after receiving my permanent resident card on the Special Immigrant program for translators and linguists.
I am here and very thankful to be in the U.S.A, I have run out of funds to support myself. I have faced incredible difficulty securing employment in my specialized field quite simply because I am not a citizen. I have two Bachelor of Science degrees (civil engineering and linguistics). However, without citizenship, I cannot obtain a security clearance to serve the U.S. military stateside through vendors and third party contractors. Other than receiving my permanent residence card, I have received absolutely no assistance or guidance from the government to help me succeed here and establish my permanent residency.
It is my understanding that there is a bill, H.R. 3824, that has been introduced to help Iraqi nationals who served the military with getting established in the U.S. There are many Iraqis in the same situation as me; we risked our lives and sacrificed our ability to ever return to Iraq to serve the military. And now I am in need of help.
i look forward to have this bill approved as soon as possible as we need an immediate help by all means.
