To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide earnings assistance and tax relief to members of the uniformed services, volunteer firefighters, and Peace Corps volunteers, and for other purposes.

H.R.1424 - Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008
This is a bill to give tax relief to members of the armed services and emergency volunteers. On 9/29/08, it was used by the House of Representatives as a legislative vehicle for a vote on a bailout bill for the nation's troubled financial system. That bill was defeated and replaced with the bill linked to above.
