Our American Indian people have demonstrated their patriotism and love of this country in every war it has waged. they volunteered and fought for the United States before they were made citizens of this Nation. Our people had many struggles and sacrifices at home, but they chose to give even more by struggling, sacrificing and risking their lives on the front lines for what America’s founding promise stood on. Being a descendant of a WWI Choctaw Code Talker, Otis W. Leader (my great uncle), it is with great urgency that legislation be passed by the United Staes Congess on HB 4544 and S 2681 to honor our Native American Doe Talkers. This is the most patriotic act our nation can do in giving recognition of these brave men. It needs to be done now before their children’s generation have walked on and a part of our valuable history will be lost forever.
