He comes here sometimes too but we just need to ignore him and concentrate on what is important.

It seems the Democrats are trying to push it trough by including it in the war funding bill but Bush said he will veto it if they do. http://www.boston.com/news/nation/washington/articles/2008/04/10/bush_vows_to_block_iraq_add_ons/ God only knows what will happen but it doesn’t look like it can possibly come soon enough.

Keep faxing, e-mailing & calling Congress. Hopefully they’ll be able to override a veto if there is one.

It seems they are getting the message, though. But yep, more greeting from me next week!

I have a republican rep as well. The house is a very heavy Democratic majority, so maybe our republican reps votes won’t be needed anyway.

I agree. They do have leverage. So, I’m hopeful.

I wish we could get in touch the other 1.3 million people that ran out of unemployment with no job and get them involved in this. I am sure many of them are living on the street now. What the hell happened to America?

I think if they tie it in to the War Supplemental program and Bush vetoes it, he will veto something he dearly wants, what the republicans want. And then they still will have to pass 2/3rds anyway with the republican votes helping. Believe me, this is the best way to play hardball with Bush. But I think as far as he is concerned – “Its just business, – nothing personal”. He needs the War Supplemental to pass, as bad as we need the extentions. Throw in the Columbia Trade and he or his Republican cronies will get it passed and signed with a smile. Just business, nothing personal. —Best way to deal with Bush at this point. It least it will give us some breathing room to figure things out.

I know most people sign up on line for unemployment, but many go to their local offices to use computers, faxes, etc. (at least in CA). I wonder if it would help to go there and hand out fliers or just tell people about this site.

They can still go to the UE office as long as their claim is active, well we know thats 6 months of no income. So, perhaps there will be people there in the same boat as us.
