People are starting to finally wake up now it is hitting them in the face. For too long too many Americans have lived with their head in the sand and as long as WallMart is open and their credit cards work they think everything is great.

Wow the news is bleak in the Sunday paper across the country, 117.00 a barrel for oil, they are starting to compare our declining america to the 1932 depression America"s unemployed is at a 4 year high 750 jobs lost last week. I believe the extensions will go through, how can Bush not sign it?!

MORNING CS & All! KEEP THINKING AND ACTING POSITIVELY!! They will listen us! Don’t forget….lets stay on our Governors…..EACH State CAN help us by passing the extension @ the State level….let them recoup funds @ a later date…we need this NOW.

Only when the GDP shows a decline for the first quarter of 2008 (which will be reported on April 30), will the country be in an ‘official’ recession. No policy regarding an extension of UIB will be initiated until after April 30. Pelosi may be posturing to push an extension through, but the country must first be declared to be in a recession before even her maneuvers will go thru. Basically, everything you hear about politicians pushing this cause will not have any results until after April 30th. to stay informed, go to this website:

Financial Services Democrats Defeat GOP Effort to Kill Mortgage Aid Measure
Apr. 24, 2008 3:07 PM

Democrats on the House Financial Services Committee blocked Republican efforts today to kill a mortgage aid bill that is centerpiece of an upcoming economic stimulus package. The panel is now expected to vote on final passage of the mortgage measure as early as Wednesday. House leaders will then add it to the larger stimulus package set for floor debate the first week of May. The package will also contain tax credits and an extension of unemployment benefits."

The House met for all of 3 minutes today, they won’t reconvene until Tuesday at 12:30. I wonder how many of them actually bothered to show up today??? So another 4 1/2 day weekend for them, must be nice to not be working and getting paid $150K/year!!!

And actually, this is the first I’ve posted on this site or S.2544 since Tuesday. I’ve only briefly visited a few times like this now, just to check to see what’s happening here, but that’s about it. SO QUIT ASSUMING THAT IT IS ALWAYS THE SAME PEOPLE POSTING HERE ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT THE WORD ASS-U-ME!!!

Why hasn’t Congress presented the extension bill yet? We are getting hungry and the bills are piling! Everyday that goes by the worse it gets.

I’m posting this because I have a friend that has been a commercial fisherman for a long time and is now out of work.

How the world’s oceans are running out of fish
The future of our seas has never been more precarious. Ninety years of industrial-scale overfishing has brought us to the brink of an ecological catastrophe and deprived millions of their livelihoods. The tax increase to offset the GI Bill expansion is not expected to survive in the Senate, and the war policy provisions may also be dropped. Democrats are betting Bush won’t actually veto the spending bill because of the unemployment insurance or the veterans’ benefit. Or, if he does, Democrats believe they might be able to override it — or at least create campaign headaches for Republicans who are already facing problems with voters heading into the November elections.

In response to latest veto threat, Defense Subcommittee Chairman, John P. Murtha , D-Pa., said, “We’ll work it out.” When asked if it would be vetoed before that happened, Murtha said, “No.”

Let’s face it folks, the 1% that hold all of the wealth in this country, including the candidates that are hoping to get our vote in 2008, have little to no empathy for us. My benefits (I’m 47 yrs. old) run out on March 17,2008, and I’m tired of hearing all of the rhetoric from the candidates that say they care about the “average Joe” – Do they really? I have little to no faith in our government anymore – we borrowed money from the Chinese to pay for the stimulus package – What? Is there anyone at the switch? Obama is not the answer – he is a placebo to all that want to feel better about life in the U.S.. He has about as much chance (if he becomes president)at passing his agenda before Congress as we do getting our extended benefits. The government has deserted us once again and once again the middle-class has taken it on the chin! I have lost all faith! Sweden anyone?

I know one thing, even Wal-Mart isnt hiring right now! Good people who have no job through no fault of their own cant afford to pay their utilities, buy gas, or even put food on the table!!! It is absolutely insane that we have to beg for passage of this bill! PASS THE GODDAMNED BILL!!!! We have had it up to here with these political games! WE NEED HELP NOW!!!! Not next month. NOW!!!

outoftime 06/04/2008 3:03pm

Information from that report would be good to use in emails and phone calls because it shows the benefit of an extension for the whole country, not just us unemployed.
