4/24/2008--Introduced.Getting Youth Re-invested in Environmental Education Now Act, or the GREEN Act - Directs the Secretary of Education to award competitive grants to states and local educational agencies for the development of environmental justice curricula and co-op programs for middle and high school students at schools:
(1) receiving school improvement funds under part A of title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965; and
(2) located in urban communities that may be disproportionately affected by climate change, pollution, and other environmental issues. Requires co-op programs to:
(1) link students with career opportunities in the environmental field;
(2) allow students to earn course or service learning credits during the summer through experiential learning; and
(3) provide students with mentors to assist them in building the skills necessary for workforce success.
