According to reports, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to reconvene Congress after the election to work on drafting and passing another stimulus plan that would include an extension of unemployment benefits, tax breaks and increases in food stamps.

it’s time for the career politicians to take a hike! a lot of them have no backbone and the ones who do are against the working man, what’s left of us that is. this election we can make a difference. working class, blue color, even all you white color who lost your jobs recently, lets unite and take back our country! mr. bush does not care about us, the republicans definitely don’t care about us, and the democrats don’t have the backbone to do anything. this coming from me a hardcore democrat. p.s.to all the young voters it’s your future. please get out and vote your future definitely depends on it

When they say ‘after the election’ do they mean the session already scheduled for MID NOV? Or earlier? I supposed Frank’s office would know.

“U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, told ABC television he will put together an economic stimulus bill when Congress returns to Washington after the November 4 elections, while a key Republican said he would support an effort that “makes sense.”

In clips of the G7 leaders, Sarkozy looks altogether too cheerful for such a solemn occasion. And what’s with Bush winking at us? Not reassuring when world leaders act like cartoon characters in a time of serious crisis. Where’s the gravitas??? Doesn’t Sarkozy realized how that looks to those who have just lost half their retirement savings? For God sakes. No wonder people are disilusioned with governments!

Some news, everybody on this site is probibly already aware of: http://speaker.house.gov/newsroom/pressreleases?id=0861

Pelosi Announces House Democrats to Convene Economic Forum on Monday

Washington, D.C. — Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced today that House Democratic leaders will convene an economic forum on Monday with some of America’s leading economists to help Congress develop an economic recovery plan that focuses on creating jobs and strengthening our economy.

“Just as the President and Congress worked together in recent weeks on an economic rescue plan to help bring stability to our financial markets, we must now take additional action and pass a jobs creation and economic recovery stimulus plan,” Pelosi said.

The October 13 forum, to be held in the Speaker’s office in the Capitol, will help Congress develop an economic recovery plan that will create jobs by rebuilding our roads, bridges and highways, prevent cuts to vital government services such as health, education, and public safety, extend unemployment benefits, and help families cope with rising food costs.

“House Democratic leaders look forward to hearing from many of America’s preeminent economic minds on what Congress and the President can do together to help families who are struggling in these difficult and worrying economic times,” Pelosi said.

Mom Cindy McCain shared that, due to an addiction to painkillers, she had previously not been able to protect her younger daughter Bridget from brutal politically-motivated racial attacks on the campaign trail. Leading up to the 2000 South Carolina Republican presidential primary, opponents spread false rumors that John McCain had fathered his then-7-year-old daughter out of wedlock with a black mother. In fact, the McCains adopted Bridget from Bangladesh in 1991.

The senator and his wife have now come to believe the Bush campaign used push-polling to make voters think that he had fathered a black child out of wedlock.

    Cindy please help us

There has been alot of questions I have gotten from people regarding the guidelines for establishing a new benefit year. I was checking out the new NELP website for media updates this morning and came across the following link that is very helpful to everyone in determining your eligibility per state of a new benefit year. Column #2 (Wages Required After the Beginning of Your Benefit Year) is the important factor in determinining your eligibility. As you can see it is different across the states:
