I am a single guy who was laid off from the Mortgage Industry over a year ago and need this extension so bad, I have used most of my savings and can not find a job. Please extend before congress session ends, this would make a big difference this holiday season by not being homeless.
What the hell does this mean on the blue line of this posting? “5 of 10 found useful.” Who decides that the other 5 comments are not useful?
“5 of 10 found useful” refers to the number of users that have voted on the usefulness of that comment. The feature allows users to view the most useful comments (you can choose “sort by most useful” from the pull down menu above-left) or to filter out comments that are rated not useful. The above “moderated comments” were removed by site administrators because they were deemed inappropriate based on the comment policy:

Just saving you time of reading through 900+ pages and becoming confused as troll after troll whirls your head around into finally you are frothing at the mouth in frustration. Someone was kind enough to state this repeatedly and I figured, since I’m the kind of person that reads a book from the back and then start at the front once I know what’s what — this will save you time.
From the person who originally posted this – thank you! This is how UI is currently working based on the Department of Labor website (long read) – here’s the short version:
1st extension 7 weeks for all states
2nd extension 7 weeks in states under 6 percent and 13 weeks if over 6 percent.
NPR reporter looking for unemployed on COBRA:
Hello,
I’m a health reporter with the NPR station in San Francisco. I’m doing a story for one our national shows about insurance options for laid-off workers. I’m specifically looking to interview:
1) a parent with school-age children who signed up for COBRA and are receiving the federal stimulus subsidy
2) a parent with school-age children who DID NOT sign up for COBRA because it was still too expensive even with the subsidy
I’m specifically looking for people in Northern California — within about 3 hours driving distance of San Francisco. Thank you for your help!
Please feel free to forward on.

Best,
Sarah

Does anyone know how long will it take to pass this bill?????
I ran out of benefits waiting for the last one to pass,
two months with no income, I thought I would loose everything, thank God it finally passed.
It can take a matter of hours, a couple days or weeks and months. It all depends on the URGENCY. It also depends on the squeaky wheel syndrome in Congress to get the Bill passed through and on to the Senate. It then must be passed in the Senate and lands on the President’s desk (this can be expedited) where the President must sign or veto within a certain amt of time. Once it’s signed by the President it becomes law immediately.
This is what we want to happen with this Bill. Help get our voices heard!
