Reid rips AIG’s massive employee payout plan
(AIG) would reportedly pay half a billion dollars to some of its top employees
As ordinary families struggle to make ends meet in this dramatic economic crisis
UNBELIEVABLE!!!
This is just freaking unbelievable. How can AIG validate this kind of bullshit. Isn’t this the very thing that the Gov’t said they didn’t want the bailout money spent on? Again…..treason,at it’s highest level. I don’t condone violence….but someone needs a good ol’ fashion ass kicking.

Nothing on the US Senate calandar as of yet:

Here is the article and link that says that if it can’t be added to the u/e then it will be done sparately so the u/e will pass http://www.moneymorning.com/2008/11/12/unemployment/ Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., have urged U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry M. “Hank” Paulson Jr. to extend part of the $700 billion rescue package already passed by Congress to auto companies. But White House spokeswoman Dana Perino has been made it clear that the current $700 billion bailout plan was intended for financial institutions, not automotive companies.
Protecting the financial markets “is what Congress had in mind when it passed that rescue package,” Perino said Monday. “There was not discussion of specific help to auto companies during that debate, and so Congress’ intent was to help financial institutions."
Senator Carl Levin (D-Mich.) told Bloomberg that if the Treasury Department can’t be persuaded to act under existing law, Congress may include automaker assistance in an economic stimulus during a so-called lame-duck session later this month.
“If they don’t agree that the current language is flexible enough, we should try an amendment during the lame-duck session and attach it to the stimulus package,” Levin said. “If the stimulus package looks like it would be vetoed, then we would have to get this done separately.”
This article is from november 12th Wednesday, it was thursday november 13th that reid said he was adding the GM bailout to the unemployment extension.
“If they don’t agree that the current language is flexible enough(the fed did not agree that the current language of the bailout included car companies) , we should try an amendment during the lame-duck session and attach it to the stimulus package,” Levin said. “If the stimulus package looks like it would be vetoed( bush said he will veto the stimulus) , then we would have to get this done separately.” (rather then getting this done separately reid has said he is adding it to the unemployment extension)
then it will be done sparately
it should be done like that to begin with ..Leave the EUI as a stand a-lone Bill!!!
It’s funny all these private firms want a piece of the bailout plan…billions of dollars.
And all I want is $204 a week UI to eat and pay my bills for 7 weeks hope 13 though.
This country has to much greed.
In Letter, Reid Urges McConnell To Support Legislation To Aid Struggling Economy
Unless I hear from you to the contrary, I plan to press forward with two provisions of that package – an extension of unemployment benefits, which passed the House by a bipartisan vote of 368-28 and legislation to protect the millions of workers at risk from the possible collapse of our domestic auto industry. These two provisions both address especially urgent needs and seem most likely to win your support and the support of your caucus.

Reid is pushing 6867 seperately.
Good find thank you for posting that, however is does not say if they will be bundled together or not. If they are not bundled together we got it.

I think it is separate because of how he mentions the House vote on 6867. I guess he still might try to tack the autos onto it. Hopefully, McDermott will stop him.
McDermott tried to have EU added to the CR but Reid would not allow it, McDermott has been awesome about going against his party leaders in trying to help us.
The auto companies shouldn’t get a dime, for years and years they made Billions..they said they need the money for the retirement/health care funds of retired workers..where is that money they were suppose to put away for this?
And why for years and years did they pay their hourly workers $47 per hour when the rest of the nation got only $15-16 per hour as a skilled worker!
Every time one of these companies is about to fail, we are told it threatens the global economy. I find that hard to believe. I don’t think Africa really cares is our car companies or insurance companies fail.
The Post Office unskilled workers get $20 to $25 an hour. In my last job there were 4 people in the department when I started and over the course of 2 years, the other 3 were let go. I was doing the work of 4 people with not much of a pay increase and having to work 50 to 60 hours a week (with no OT pay). I was making $17 an hour when I was let go.
What workers got forty seven per hour? Please post proof/link from a reliable source. That is not what I read.
Not relevent to our problem, but an interesting article nonetheless…

yes, but even more interesting than the article, are the responses, many stating that they think the fool theory is bunkum.
Moderated Comment
I spoke to a Reid staffer, she was nice and when I brought up 6867 she new what the bill was about which was a nice change. She did not know if 6867 and the Auto company bailout would be attached or not, she said that she “didn’t have a statement from Reid yet” but that several people had called with the same question and she would pass my message on to reid which was to please let 6867 be voted on all by its self.
She was nice this time? Perhaps they are starting to understand the gravity of the situation.
I think you are mixing it up with McConnell’s staff..who was none too nice.
I’ve had only friendly, nice staffers answer at Reid’s office.

Thats the federal gov’t. not a private firm.
Its also a union. The union reps sit in their own private office playing poker and telling you they can’t help you when you go to them about something. The Verizon union reps would tell you the same thing but at least they had to do regular jobs, too. In my total of 7 years in union environments the only time I saw the union reps do anything was to defend people who called in sick every week and were about to get fired.
And I might add that at one point I was given the work of 2 higher paid employees with no pay increase and the union told me they couldn’t help me. I understand the need for unions and if they did what they are supposed to do I would be all for them. But in 7 years, I never saw them do what they were originally intended to do.
Hi Just a comment, I realize unions have slipped in there efficiency, most likely because they have been so neutered, but let me say something..
Arizona is a right to work state and employers get away with murder as well in Nevada.
The casino industry is rampant with bias behavior and owners have no desire to level the playing field.
There isnt even a state institution for workers rights in RTW states.
Frankly i believe if there were stronger honest unions who kept employees wages even remotely better than they are CEO’s wouldn’t be earning 500 times the workers or golden parachute’s.
Casino’s are notorious for fire/down size> people with years of employment and (401K not all casinos have this but they eventually actually make better then min wage) and then hire the same people back with lower wages to do the work for 2 or 3 people.
Plus the money casino make eaves the area. They are all owned by entities outside of this state.(laughlin)
Laughlin is one of the wealthiest little cities in Nevada but the employees mostly live in poverty wages.
This is criminal in my opinion, since the casinos have windfall profits like the oil companies, all derived from working class people.
Casinos should be required to pay a LIVING wage. There is no actual cost for the product!
Tips are for the most part ARE considered the wage..so..since people have stopped traveling..guess what..lay offs galore and those who are still working are trying to live on the min wage.
Its Just WRONG!
I have always believed that this area should have been unionized like the steel / auto /workers. If they unions had not existed 30 years ago this country would be a country of working slaves.
A perfect example of this truth is the statement by Fed chairman Greenspan’s acknowledgment -there was a flaw in his idea “how the world worked!” He said he thought “the industry would self regulate”
Ya right!Give me a break! These guys own the Golden goose and the eggs why on earth would they volunteer to share or be honest for that matter.
A founder announced years ago he would close his casino before he would let a union in…
He has never paid relevant wages and in one instance a in-house memo was leaked which he wrote in his own hand writing that said
“If they dont like the pay we can always hire boat people-to do this menial work”—during the Florida invasion of folks from Haiti.
These types of people are not about what good for the whole of America, they are about themselves
I am for Unions simply because its the little shit that adds up and since companies like Walmart and Gaming Industry have complete autonomy to do as they please to the working class.just wrong.
You dont see CEO’s being mistreated !!
Why They have good representation!

Sorry, your post is so long I just skimmed it. Isn’t it funny how Walmart is one of the only retailers not to post a loss? And nobody has to wrk there if they really don’t want to.
Hooray!!! SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!! The Bill passed this afternoon!
Everyone can breath a sigh of relief. We will proceed to get benefits for another 7-13 weeks! The senate voted during a surprise meeting 20 min ago!
WE CAN SLEEP TONIGHT!
Is this for real?
