you must remove main street from your vocabulary, no help for the unemployed means no help for wall street, the definition of main street is going to change soon, don’t be suckered into defending or fighting for something that is not to your benefit. We are here to fight for the unemployed and an extension of unemployment benefits nothing else, please stay on message

because by ussing the world main street you are implying that you are supporting everything in the stimulus bill. In a few days the definition of main street is going to change and in the new definition main street will not mean unemployed. we need to focus on helping the unemployed not main street so when the people change the definition of main street it will not look like we have been in support of something that will not help us. politicians do this kind of manipulation all the time. For years there was an estate tax then name was changed to the “death TAX” then the tax was seen as a bad thing iccy who would tax the dead, but an “estate” on the other hand should be taxed. language is very important in creating public opinion.

SO by telling people to support main street without spicificly say we want people to support the unemployed we could end up supporting something that has nothing to do with an unemployment extension. So always say support the unemplyed and provide an unemployment extenion. Currently the deffinition of Main street includes millionairs and billionaires that own Northrop Grumman there are millions of dollars in the stimulus bill allocated for Northrup Grumman to update their battle ship factories, so by saying support main street you are saying give a 44 million dollar subsidy to the 2nd or third largest military contractor in the world. They have made billions in the last 8 years we do we need to give them money but they are “main street” according to the stimulus

    • we do not need to give them money but they are "main street according to the stimulus bill (7110).

(It would be awesome if someone with better written communication skills could write thin in a manner that would be easier to understand and with fewer words)

Question: Shouldn’t we be focusing more on 6867 or 3507 instead of 7110? NELP cites the first two bills as the ones we should be pushing.

yes 7110 is the reason we do not allready have an extension, 7110 was never designed to pass, it can’t pass

    Posted over at 6867.

    I found this on MSNBC…http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26953481/?GT1=43001

“Liberal Democrats who opposed the bill are suggesting other changes. The ideas include extending unemployment insurance and banning some forms of “short selling,” in which investors bet that a stock’s value will drop.”

Yes!! At least I’m finally seeing a reference to adding it to the bailout bill!

    freom this artcle

“no supporters were using the word “bailout.””
“The rescue package was Topic A on the presidential campaign trail.”
““The first thing I would do is say, ’Let’s not call it a bailout. Let’s call it a rescue,”’ McCain told CNN.”

see the importance of language touched on 4 or 5 posts above. From this point forward the wall street bailout no longer will exist in the government or the media, from now on this bill will be referred to as the “rescue package” by every Medea organization. That is why we must alway ask for help for the unemployed or for an unemployment extension and never utter or type the words “mainstreet”

PS. keep googleing unemployment and unemployment extension as much as possible there is a good explanation as to why over on 6867 page 117 I think

Found this on AOL this morning. A little tidbit about extension of unemployment benefits is in the article. Keep fighting everyone and good luck to us all.

Senate to Force House’s Hand on Bailout

WASHINGTON (Oct. 1) – President Bush’s plan to rescue U.S. financial markets is headed for a Senate vote Wednesday night after leaders there agreed to add tax breaks for businesses and the middle class and increase deposit insurance in an attempt to revive the legislation rejected by the House….

Earlier Tuesday, House Democratic leaders discussed adding an extension of unemployment benefits, while Republicans pressed to make it easier for financial institutions to hold questionable long-term assets. House Democratic Whip James Clyburn, D-S.C., floated the idea of boosting a recently passed property tax deduction for homeowners who don’t itemize on their returns.

Wow there is only a small spec of unemployment extension in 7110 only for states at over 6.5%, this is a bad bill over 56 billion in the bill less then 2 billion to help us. Why ficht for a bill that excludes 45 states, no one will this bill can not pass but the stupid people will be like, well at the the dems tried to pass an extension even if it was only for states over 6.5% but the bad republicans didn’t let it happen.

This bill is a joke we need to push for 6867 or 2544 something for all all states and something that would pass if the dems would allow for a vote on it.

Where does it say the Senate REFUSES to vote on it before the election? If the Senators, Reps, get enough heat from the public and the media, they could hold a special session to vote on it.

    Keep up the pressure!

There is no employment. We need jobs. There are lost of federal jobs, lets open those up so we can make good money and benefits. We could limit federal employment to five years and allow more Americans to serve and make the good money those federal jobs pay.
