Show of hands: How many people think these kind of actions make it more likely for Iran to attack us?
This resolution in effect calls for a unilateral blockade of Iran - which is an act of war. How can so many Democrats have signed on for this? Are they incapable of learning from mistakes? Pelosi and Reid are a disaster - proof positive that the Peter Principle is alive an well in Congress.

The National Intelligence Estimate reported in December 2007 that it was highly likely that Iran stopped any program to develop nuclear weapons in the summer of 2003.
All the Bushies know this.
Congress knows this.
Search for it on Google, (NIE DEC 2007). It's only a few pages which can be read and easily understood in less than 10 minutes.
The Iranians know that an Iranian nuke is a BAD thing, and they don't really want it. They do, however, want nuclear power. And the non-proliferation treaty gives them that right. Actually, that treaty, which both Iran and the US approved, REQUIRES the US to HELP Iran develop the ability to independently generate all the nuclear power they want.

Nuclear weapons or not the US will have to attack them militarily or stop them exporting too much oil.
Iran has said they will flood the oil markets. They are trading the oil in euros and not dollars because they want oil producing countries to stop holding dollars as reserves and dump them to ruin the US currency. If Iran indeed dumps the millions of oil daily once they get those pipelines running the US currency will take a huge hit since it is the de facto currency of the world since almost all oil is traded in it. Interest rates will have to soar up to soak up all that currency (trillions) to prevent hyper-inflation, if they even can.
The US manufacturing base will have to be rebuilt etc, it will cost a lot that the US does not have. We will lose a lot of social programs and have super high taxes and the middle class will dissappear. What is more important, bombing Iran with nukes and killing several thousand people or us suffering the erosion of our entire way of life without social security or any value left in our dollars. With hyperinflation your retirement is gone!
The US has to attack Iran or prevent them exporting oil. Iran is conducting economic warfare to destabilize the US currency. If they succeed they will cause more harm and terror than a nuclear weapon ever would.

WE ARE ADAMANTLY AGAINST THE RESOLUTION CALLING FOR THE NAVAL BLOCKADE ON IRAN! This resolution is a backdoor provocation of war towards the Iranians! NO! NO! NO!
It is obvious to see that US and Europe are not truly committed to diplomacy with Iran! The AIPAC groups' frequent flyer accounts are full of points as they go across the globe, since they already own the congress and the house of representatives in US, pressuring Europeans, United Nations, and all and all to ensure complete strangulation of Iran! Pressures, bullying, and the absurdity of the whole nuclear situation of Iran is disheartening! And why no one has the courage to stand up to these radicals and neo-cons that are leading the world to a third world war! Now the one thing I would like to know is how do these people sleep at night, knowing the atrocities they committed during the day! Shame on them and mostly on us for sitting quietly and allowing a spoilt brat of a child torment & bully everyone in the schoolyard of the world!
I don't think anything substantial will come of this particular bill, but I don't think it's a step in the right direction either.
This resolution states, "Whereas the November 2007 National Intelligence Estimate reported that Iran was secretly working on the design and manufacture of a nuclear warhead until at least 2003, but that Iran could have enough highly enriched uranium for a nuclear weapon as soon as late 2009." However, it fails to mention that the report says this is, "very unlikely." H.Con Res. 362 also fails to mention this part of the report: "We judge with moderate confidence Iran probably would be technically capable of producing enough HEU for a weapon sometime during the 2010-2015 time frame. (INR judges Iran is unlikely to achieve this capability before 2013 because of foreseeable technical and programmatic problems.) All agencies recognize the
possibility that this capability may not be attained until after 2015." There's also no mention of this part of the NIE report, "We assess with high confidence that Iran has the scientific, technical and industrial capacity eventually to produce nuclear weapons if it decides to do so." So, eventually, Iran will be able to build nuclear weapons if they decide to. Besides, what right do we have to tell them not to pursue nuclear weapons when we have them. Also, what right does the U.S. have to inspect all persons and vehicles entering and leaving Iran? Are we trying to piss them off? This resolution is only setting the stage for war.
Not knowing what an "H.Con.Res" was I looked it up and it stands for Concurrent Resolution and according to its definition it is not a bill and thus carries no legislative weight, nor is it submitted to the President.. Strange, what is the purpose of this Concurrent Resolution if it doesn't pass the President's desk, nor is not legislative?

I heard my loony, freak rep Mary Fallin co-authored this bill.
My local free weekly, the Valley Advocate, reported this week that Rep. Barney Frank has changed his mind and is withdrawing his support of this bill. He is an official co-spnosor, and is no doubt changing his mind because of the public's vocal opposition to the bill. Always good to see a Congressmen engaged at this level.

Are you absolutly insane? How can you seriously justify killing even ONE person for oil? It's their oil for god's sake. It's not our RIGHT to have it. We purchase oil, just like we purchase a million other items. You place your retirement against THEIR rights? You are insane... INSANE.
This bill is in the first step in the legislative process. Introduced bills go first to committees that deliberate, investigate, and revise them before they go to general debate. The majority of bills never make it out of committee. Keep in mind that sometimes the text of one bill is incorporated into another bill, and in those cases the original bill, as it would appear here, would seem to be abandoned
We must wait until after Iran develops its nukes. It'll be much easier to deal with them then. Here's why:
The Iranian government would become gentler, the Middle East region would become more stable, there would be less terrorism, our troops would be safer, the Iranian government would be more willing to behave and negotiate, the neighboring oil rich countries would be safer, gas prices would become lower, we'll have better assurance of oil flow through the Persian Gulf, the Iranian government would better observe human rights in Iran, we could even renew our nuke arms race, this time with Iran, ...
It'll be a wonderful world! So let's wait and do nothing right now until conditions become more favorable.

I am an American citizen, part of the diaspora that arrived here from Iran in '79. I can assure you that the regime in Iran is a PUPPET of the Global Financial Oligarchy. This regime came to power with FULL SUPPORT of CFR (Carter, Rockefeller, et al); UK (BBC broadcast demonstration schedule on its Farsi language service a day in advance); Deputy comander of NATO (US Gen.) came to Iran just before the departure of Shah and explicitly told the Iranian Generals to 'stand down'; the USSR was then very much a Super Power (think!) and ran the psyops against Iran from its embassy in Tehran.
All of this song and dance is B.S. USA has done more than any other entity to 'create' and turn the so-called "islamic" regime into a "Regional Power". This includes the removal of Saddaam Hossein; destruction of (rival) Iraq (with the fully predictable rise of "Shiite" power and attendant influence by guess who?); and finally all this fumbling around that does nothing more than ADD TO THE PRESTIGE of the puppet neo-soviet regime of IRI in the eyes of the "Arab street" and other "masses".
Wake up.
