this bill must be stopped or at the very least the word FORCE needs to be defined!! STOP THIS BILL!!!!!!

  • gravelution08 01/14/2008 12:45pm

If this bill were to become a law, Americans run the risk of losing many of their civil liberties and rights granted by the Bill Of Rights. This must be stopped.

it’s so important that people are aware of bills and what they entail because many bills really do govern our lives. those who have been innocent victims know this best. laws shouldn’t necessarily be made to rule out the extremes of any given situation, but should make sense according to how most of us live and want to be able to live.

The bill summary uses the terms “radicalization” and “violent.” Does anyone know how the bill defines those terms? At one time, labor unions, womens’ suffrage, ending segregation, and opposing the Vietnam War were all seen as “radical” ideas. If a strike picket line tries to block scabs, is that “violence” as defined by this bill? At one time non-violent sit-ins at segregated lunch counters were accused of violence against the property rights of the owners, is spray-painting “polluter” on the wall of a chemical plant violence as defined by this bill?

the definitions seem broad regardless of there being one. this comes from the bill text:
`(2) VIOLENT RADICALIZATION- The term `violent radicalization’ means the process of adopting or promoting an extremist belief system for the purpose of facilitating ideologically based violence to advance political, religious, or social change.

  • skrap 01/20/2008 4:29pm

This bill is unnecessary. Most forms of violent protest are already illegal, as are vandalism, and conspiracy to incite any of the above. Why must we label these things as terrorism?

Not to mention that this bill blames the internet for “providing access to broad and constant streams of terrorist-related propaganda to United States citizens.” You might as well blame cars for transporting terrorists, or the air for providing oxygen.

Could this Bill be used to charge our governing officals for crimes against the citizens of the united states of America? Maybe a little taste of their own Violent Radicalization is in order here.

`(3) HOMEGROWN TERRORISM- The term `homegrown terrorism’ means the use, planned use, or threatened use, of force or violence by a group or individual born, raised, or based and operating primarily within the United States or any possession of the United States to intimidate or coerce the United States government, the civilian population of the United States, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.

“(3) HOMEGROWN TERRORISM- The term `homegrown terrorism’ means the use, planned use, or threatened use, of force or violence by a group or individual born, raised, or based and operating primarily within the United States or any possession of the United States to intimidate or coerce the United States government, the civilian population of the United States, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.”

Isn’t this the same thing as what is being practiced in DC by our government officials and their parties? How would the US Government disqualify themselves from this statement?

  • textdog 01/21/2008 1:26pm

`(4) IDEOLOGICALLY BASED VIOLENCE- The term `ideologically based violence’ means the use, planned use, or threatened use of force or violence by a group or individual to promote the group or individual’s political, religious, or social beliefs.

My comment about this is the same as my comment about HOMEGROWN TERRORISM. “the use, planned use, by a group or individual to promote the group or individual’s political beliefs”. Smells rotten.

This bill makes a mockery of what our country is supposed to stand for. I watched these hearings on the hill. Jane Harmon needs to go.

Now We Know Why There’s A Press Blackout On S 1959 – It’s Called “ENDGAME” By Dept of Homeland Security (DHS).

It’s also interesting to note that even though S 1959 is still in committee, parts of it are already being implemented – funding for which was appropriated by the House. No Senate approval, but the bill goes forward anyway – likely to be brought to the floor when they believe it won’t be noticed.

Luckily, with the SF Chronicle breaking the silence on S 1959 and DHS’s EndGame, millions of Americans are now aware of – and voicing their outrage and demanding answers on the implications of this odious legislation. Nevertheless, parts of the Bill are already being implemented – and this is a matter that we need to melt the Congressional phones lines with constant demands for its end if we expect to make a difference.

Evidence and substantiation that the Bill is already being implemented: http://justanothercoverup.com/?p=389

Please take a close examination of the characters behind this bill, as I have. I hate to make this about race, but these are the facts: they are all Jews, Israelis or Zionists with strong ties to quasi-governmental think-tanks, Israeli intelligence fronts, or Jewish Non-Profit organiations.

It figures that the fascists are shoving their adgenda to the hilt near the end of their rule. Like rats deserting a sinking ship they want to assure their future game cloaked in secrecy. Why don’t they have to pay for the damage they’ve done? This is ,once again, real terrorism! Hopefully like everything bush and his crooked accomplices touch,It will also turn to sh*t….
  • pxrassassin 04/22/2008 5:10am

Facism is making its way to America. This bill gives the government all the power it needs to do whatever it wants. “The term `violent radicalization’ means the process of adopting or promoting an extremist belief system for the purpose of facilitating ideologically based violence to advance political, religious, or social change.” This is quoted directly from the text. The government determines what “violent radicalization” really is. The extremmist beliefs are any beliefs other than their own. You might as well start saying “Hail Bush!”

Tammy Baldwin, I’m ashamed you were so dumbas to vote for this Bill. It’s a bill for promoting violent radicalization on the part of the ‘Unitary’ Fascist ‘Executive’. Competely antiConstitutional in intent and effect.

I’m pleased to see that for some reason or other the Seante is reacting properly to this bill and ignoring it…

The American people will not tolerate this continued damage to our civil rights. We are PISSED off and aware. The Navy Times originally reported that the Oct 1, 2008 arrival of troops in the US was specifically to train them in non-lethal weapon use against the American people, among other things. Why has this story suddenly changed to say they are here in case of an emergency. Even in that case, why the heck have we allowed the president to command troops to act against citizens at what has become the “president’s whim” it seems. We must take back our country now! Spread the word, wake up, unite.
