the truth is that the GBO estimates that it will cost only 1 million dollars to implement.

If you believe this you will believe anything. Furthermore why should we continue to aid countries that don’t help their selves. Nor do we need the UN in our affairs.

Wordsmith1218 11/30/2008 7:27am

S.2433 is simply good international policy; defining the U.S. commitment to a strategic global community and making a stronger effort toward a better informed people worldwide. Only through education and the lessening of poverty can we – as a free world – defeat the ignornace of terrorism and dictatorial hegemony. Creating wealth creates and promotes freedom and once this wealth is either denied or threatened will those rise against the dominance of an oppressive nation or society. S2433 was agreed upon nearly nine years ago, a US and UN supported statement that would work toward the end of global poverty by the year 2015 – America must honor the integrity of these commitments and demonstrate genuine leadership in this world.

Until we take care of the United States of America, how in the hell are we expected to continue to hand out money to help all these other countries. We are on a fast track to becoming one of these Third World countries that the Liberals are all in favor of saving? Who do you think is going to come to our aid when we become a Third World country? That’s right, nobody! As stated in posts before this one, there are many, many people in other countries that are looking forward to the demise of the United States. This Bill will do nothing but insure of demise takes the fast track. God Bless America, because we certainly need it!

“In absolute numbers our humanitarian aid seems generous, but in percentage of GNP it is far below what smaller developed countries like Norway and Sweden and Denmark provide.”

Here, you are making a typical error, ignoring the “humanitarian” aid that comes from non-governmental sources, such as churches, privately-run missions, and individual donors, which is far better targeted and more effective than government aid. Individually, Americans are the most generous people on earth, sending millions in private donations annually to places most of us can’t find on a map because there is a need.

If, in fact, we want to lift the Third World out of poverty, sending them a check is the wrong way. We should target our money to drilling wells to provide potable drinking water and water for irrigation, to educating their citizens on basic sanitation and sustainable agricultural practices, and to developing farm-to-market road systems that will encourage entrepreneurship.

Before you pontificate about poor countries, you should try living in one for a few years. Then, you would know that government dollars more often than not go to buy new Mercedes and villas for local bureaucrats.

To-“anonymous” Nov. 25 2008. I have no clue what definition you are using to determine these racists. People of many colors are against this bill. When the U.S. is in a position to supply prosperity to the rest of the world, fine. However, currently we cannot pay back the loans we have outstanding with other countries let alone fix the entire worlds financial problems. It has absolutely nothing to do with race, it has everything to do with the fact we are broke. If you add up all the taxes we pay it’s closing in on half of what we make. How much more of your hard earned money are you willing to give to the government to solve all the worlds problems when they can’t even solve some of the most basic ones here? We still have hunger, poverty, sickness. Hasn’t our government already pledged to eliminate all of these things? Obviously, you are not one of the people who is contributing to the money involved. Could it be that you are just one of the way too many holding out your hand to get “your piece of the pie”, and not struggling to get by like the rest of us. Why does the U.S. have to take the role of savior of the world.

I agree charity should begin at home, Would these people care about us ?
Most of these starving over populated countries just need birth control, Sterlization and abortion, that would slow down the over population, and help them take care of their selves. Our government needs to first care for the country threy were elected to protect

No to bill S2433. I have a feeling that in the next 4 years we will be one of the countries that will be asking for aid from the UN. We’re al
ready starting to feel like a third world country.

The simple fact is that the Constitution of the United States does not say anywhere that we need to support the poor of the world. All of the laws of this nation are supposed to be based on the Constitution. I have been working in law enforcement for over 24 years. When I took my oath, it was to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. If the United Nations tries to trump the Constitution, then it has become an enemey. Obviously, I do not recognize the United Nations as an authority over the United States of America. Another thing, I think it’s a disgrace to see our Untied States soldiers wearing United Nations patches on their uniforms.

The United States was formed as an independent country where the people of this country rejected the rule of foreign powers. I will guarentee you this, the people of the United States will not give up their sovergnty (North American Union??). We are not Europeans, we are not Africans, we are Americans. We need to stop calling ourselves African Americans, Asian Americans, European Americans…we are Americans and we fought for that distinction! If it wasn’t for the United States of America, the Germans, Russians, French, Japaneese, Chineese, or Babalonians would have established an empire/dynasty much like the Greeks and Romans. Some say we have established an empire. The truth is that we have established a legacy of hope for the people living in depressed nations. In providing that example of hope, we should not provide an example of foolishness and bring about our own downfall by thinking we can feed and support all the worlds poor. Another fact that media and politicians hate to admit is that if you send money to the United Nations or poor governments, they keep the money making themselves rich (lining their pockets with our sweat-Kopeemann!).

We already have our fair share of crime, poverty, and internal issues…we don’t need to over extend ourselves. We’re not being selfish when we don’t want to support everyone and everything, we being practical…read the Constitution of the United States…before it’s too late!

The 850 billion comes from the Millineum Development goals itself which this bill says the US must meet.

“A bill to require the President to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the United States foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day.”

2002 Implementation of the United Nations Millennium Declaration, p. 10, section 50 states the US must give 0.7 of its GNP to this which equals approximately $850 billion over 10 years:

“Only five countries met the 0.7
per cent target in 2001 — with one (Denmark) giving
as much as 1 per cent of its GNP — while others gave
as little as 0.1 per cent. The announcements made at
Monterrey would lead to an increase of at least US$ 12
billion per year by 2006. This is an important step but
it still falls far short of the additional US$ 50 billion
needed to give developing countries a fair chance of
meeting the Millennium development goals.”

I believe the UN is the BIG problem here, WE give, they take, and keep for them selfs.
Why should the US tax payer provide for the whole world. The UN takes for them selfs 1st, stuff their pockets 2ed, and then steals what’s left. The US tax payer has had enough, we give when asked, we give in all natural disasters world wide, and now they want to take from us to bring everyone else up, B.S.. We should tell the UN to straighten up or out you go. I’m sure some 3rd world country would enjoy the economic boot the UN would bring when we kick them out of the USA,(we could solve our national debt if the Diplomats just paid their parking tickets), Why should the US TAX PAYER be forced to make some PRICKTATOR a billionaire. ENOUGH

This Bill is Anti-American. It NEEDS to be voted DOWN. It VIOLATES the Constitution of The Unoted States. Americans need to be able to defend themselves from an opressive Government, which appears to be raising it`s ugly head since the presidential election results.

You say God Bless America…..you ask our Maker to bless us, and His(God’s) response is…..“what you do unto the least of these, you do unto me”. If you are going to call our God to bless us, then perhaps you should follow the instructions He has given us, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Another giveaway program by the politicians of the US. This year I worked 4.5 – 5.0 months of the year to pay my fed, state, county, and city taxes. If we continue down the path, it will only be a couple years and the working sitizens of the Us will be working 10-11 months of each year to subsidize the stupidity of the politicians of the UN, the world, and the US.

Anonymous 11/18/2008 11:07am

This will lead to unmitigated hell for the US taxpayers

From a Native American living on the Navajo Nation:
I am glad to see that all that your forefathers fought and scarificed for crumbling before your eyes….the content of the emails is ample proof enough. United States barely going get past a couple hundred years before she is brought down from within. The Navajo Nation on a military reservation (not Indian Reservation) is still living under treaty conditions is ample proof that these institutions you call your home/lifestyle will fall because of the way you treat humans within your own borders let alone the world. Your founding fathers spelled it out perfectly for you:…..“The man who trades freedom for security does not deserve nor will he ever receive either.”
Benjamin Franklin.

“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.”
Thomas Jefferson, our 3rd President

Any time a World Bank or IMF have anything to do with your money you will be brought into slavery at a level you will understand…..to have them even mentioned in the Bill is a clear sign that they will reap untold profits from the mere fact that you are going to let them in the door. US monetary system is in the flux it is in because of what Thomas Jefferson has said. So their you have it…I am quite sure our people will still be here long after you have destroyed yourselfs. I wouldnt hope for such things but given the remarks in this disscussion of this Bill the sooner you do it to yourselfs the better.

1 million a year is what the Congressional Budget Deptartment filed.
I think a million a year could be better spent on poverty in our own country.
Don’t dole it out without the receipient actually earning it.

OBAMA is the great BLACK GOD (greater than any GOD today). The great black devil will kill him.

NOW is a good time to leave the u.s.a. (YOU.NAZI.STATE)country. The nazi USA will bomb its own country to declare war on the world. This is the first step for the nazi U.S.A to en-slave the world. move to another country (safer), arm your self with WMA and death. fighting the nazi from with-in is the jobs of The American people. The war will be won by the people, if the people start infecting the nazi USA computer with virus. destroy street cameras and be safe about it. THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU, BEFORE YOU DO, and avoid pigs contact stay off the streets. get a pre-paid phone, less likely to track. Remember not to hurt ANY people, you must step on any government puppets. anyone who support the nazi usa government must be dealt with. People are only smart if you feel them infor. Be VERY quite about DEATH.

Explain WHY we are responsible for another country.
I hold higher regard for the people who could not realize they lived BELOW SEA LEVEL then I have for the people of another country. ANY OTHER COUNRTY!
I do not feel I am responsible for either. If I have to pick one or the other, I will take the residents of New Orleans BEFORE I would pick another country!
God Bless America.

They are jealous of what our forefathers have built for us to enjoy.
What I find unbelievable is that we now have this worldwide raving majority saying we are evil. Come the first tsunami or earthquake or flood or refugee movement and they are looking to us for food and water.
What happened after Katrina? Where was Denmark, Norway and Sweden? Ii did not see their helicopters flying over New Orleans. I did not see their Navy supplying humanitarian aid just off our coast. Do you know why? BECAUSE WE ARE THE ONES WHO FILL THIS ROLE! EVERYWHERE!
Did anyone forget that it was the U.S. that FREED DENMARK, SWEDEN AND NORWAY from the Nazis? How many US lives were lost fighting for THIER FREEDOM?
WELL? Anyone care to answer that? Learn your history BEFORE making assinine comments.
