Americans in general have given over $2.5 billion annually to support the poor around the world. The problem is that the UN who gets to spend these funds gave $500 million to N. Korea without any accounting for how the money is spent. This raises serious questions about how this money will be used and for what purpose. I think this bill needs to be killed on the floor and a much better version put together. Maybe the Gates Foundation people could provide some lessons as they are getting value for each dollar spent. A serious question to be raised also is what has happened to the $50 billion America has already donated in Africian nations. I think we need better accountability.

Ah! Nothing like a reasonable, well argued and totally eloquent response. Is that meant as a proposition or are you just venting because you have exhausted your vocabulary?

1 million a year is what the Congressional Budget Deptartment filed.
I think a million a year could be better spent on poverty in our own country.
Don’t dole it out without the receipient actually earning it.

In reply to the following post: Christians believe in Jesus Christ as SAVIOR. The ONLY path to salvation and thus to heaven. Mormons do not even believe that He is God, let alone Savior. So keep your misinformed opinions out of factual postings. Mormons are NOT Christians.

Mormons believe in Jesus as the Christ, so that makes them Christian even if they differ in some other ways from most “Christian” denominations. That many denominations refuse to acknowledge other denominations as “Christian” floors me. Far as I’m concerned, ALL organized religions are authoritarian, dogmatic nonsense, which has harmed humanity far more than it has ever helped.

Let Nancy save the planet, by herself. Congress is elected to serve the American people. This bill is above BHO’s pay scale. Put it to a vote of the people, so congress can see what mainstream American’s think of how congress spends our money. Perhaps if more people are aware of what they are up to they would get voted out.

I really don’t care what the good cause or which side of the aisle thought this one up— the President and the Senate and the House work for the people of the US and they have no business working for other countries or entities (including but not limited to the UN).

It is bad enough that they think the job is to take money from some of the citizens and give it to others by force. My God, this is beyond belief.

Obama can’t get away from Blair’s GDP tax that he created this legislation over – two hard core socialists.

If this bill passes, the US will have to agree to the UN’s Millenium Declaration which has connotations all of their own. This would require the US to rewrite many of the laws that we hold near & dear to our hearts such as the 2nd amendment. The US would also have to agree to the Convention of the Rights of the Child, which was proposed in 1989 and the US is one of the last members of the UN that is refusing to sign this, and for good some very valid reasons. If this bill passes it will allow the UN to have more power over the US than it needs or should ever have. And on the poverty issue, the US needs to take care of the poverty stricken here at home before sending any more money overseas.

This sounds like a great bill but I am not sure if the United States has the money to implement this. If funding is an issue maybe the bill could be phased in over a longer time table. There are many issues we need to address inside the United States.

JamesKlichll, You have to be kidding me?! If this is a “great bill” then I have some ocean front property in Arizona I’d like to sell you. How asinine of a statement. Whats wrong with using the money that we, as American taxpayers, pay for economic issues in the United States? Why do we, as Americans, have to bail every other country out of debt and raise their citizens out of poverty when we have our own issues to deal with? It’s not our responsibility.

You know, its kind of like that speech flight attendants make before every flight, regarding the oxygen masks…put the mask on yourself first before helping others. If you can’t take care of yourself first, then you along with the others will die.

We need to take care of our home first.

Have the majority of our US Congressmen and Senators forgotten who they represent? I’m tired of the amount of money (taxpayer dollars) being sent to help other nations. When we have so many needs that should be addressed first here in the US. WHEN WILL OUR GOVERNMENT START USING COMMON SENSE AND TAKE CARE OF THE TAXPAYERS HERE! THE USA TAXPAYERS ARE BEING PIMPED TO OTHER NATIONS TO MAKE THEM WEALTHY. IT IS TIME TO PUT A STOP TO THE MADNESS.

WE SHOULD VOTE OUT ALL OF THE CURRENT SENATORS AND CONGRESSMEN!! X OUT ALL OF THEM!

WE WOULD BE BETTER OFF VOTING THE COMMENTATORS OF THE VARIOUS NEWS NETWORKS TO OFFICE, THEIR NAMES SHOULD BE WRITTEN IN COME VOTING TIME.

Are you all on crack or something? The US has oppressed peoples from all over the world, and has promoted slave labor and sweatshops so you freaks can buy crap at Walmart.

Poverty is real. And its now hitting us here in the US because big corporations want our US labor force to be slaves again.

Shut up. Idiots

“The US has oppressed peoples from all over the world, and has promoted slave labor and sweatshops so you freaks can buy crap at Walmart.”

Funny, we all seem to be against globalism. Didn’t I hear you rail against the buy American campaign because you wanted jobs for foreign workers?

“Poverty is real.”

See cat, see cat run. You’ve made daddy proud!

“And its now hitting us here in the US because big corporations want our US labor force to be slaves again.”

…still not sure how taking more of my money is a solution, but thanks for playing.

“Shut up. Idiots”

The Clinton’s did this for their entire presidency and look where it got us. 9/11. Say what you will, but a large portion of the world would like nothing but to see the demise of the United States of America. The one sure way to ensure our survival is reliance on our own military.

Why do politicians insist on using tax payer money on projects that do not help americans.
Apparently we pay too much tax, since we can give it away to other countries and organizations. Maybe they should lower our taxes and let us keep some our own money if they can’t find something better to do with it.
