Is anyone here got called in for auditing the job search? If so, what’s the nature of their questioning the job search. Do they verify by calling the contacts on the job search.

Also, what happens if you are out of state while they call you in for the job search audit. Can we still be considered looking for a job while we are out of the state which we are collecting the benefits in? Can you say you are looking for an out of state job?

yes they want to see all your job contacts, they will call every one of them, companies are required by law to keep records of who aplies. If you do not have proof of your job contacts the unemployment insurance can take the money they gave to you back, with the new extension a law passed that said that they can take you money back ten years after you have collected your unemployment so keep your records. The can tke your income tax returns and garnish your wages if you do loose your records.

Just be selective in the jobs you try to get, try to get the same money or more then what you were making in your last job, that is what unemployment is for, if a company will not tell you what the pay is before you aplie don’t aplie. But do the work to find a job, being given free money to have the time to find a good job is a blessing don’t waist it. If you scam the system you are liable for the next ten years.

This is D,from OR. My last check for the normal 26 week Unemployment benefit is Oct 22nd. In my state they say that once your balance is zero then you can call for the extention. I have sent tons of resumes out in the last 5 months only had 4 interviews for jobs that i am MORE than qualified for. Hell I can’t even get a declination letters or return phone calls after. Sometimes I seriously want to put a damn gun to my head and end it. At this time last year I was doing so great and so happy. Now I am on an anti anxiety drug, an anti depressent just to keep myself going. Time is running out for me. Where is the Best job market in the country right now? I have already started applying in WA state and going to expand it to any state where I can get a good and secure job. I just needed someone to listen. Thank you in advance for your replies. OH and should I call the OR Dept of Unemployment to ask questions about qualifying?

How can the American Middle Class Taxpaying Joe & Jane bailout the economy when they have no jobs, are underemployed and their extended unemployment benefits run out October 20th?

Everytime I call a Democrat, they say that the vote was blocked by Republicans.
They’re USING us for political gain in the election. Make them take a vote IN ABSENTIA and make it a roll call where each one has to be accountable for their vote.
We’re PAWNS in this war between parties and I’m sick of it!!!! Make them come together for US like they did WALL STREET!!!!

I have exhausted my EUC, I’m a college graduate with a 18month daughter to raise….I have been trying to find employment for the past year….I don’t know what to do or how I will feed my child….forget Wall Street the United States Government needs to give a bail out to their American people. I’m 26 and I’ve seriously been comtemplating joining the Air Force even if that means leaving my daughter for boot camp and tech school. I seriously don’t have any other options right now.

    Folks —

Now is a great time — with your Senators back home campaigning — to reach out to them to be sure they are on record supporting the Senate bill to expand federal unemployment benefits for the folks who are running out of their limited 13-week federal extension. As soon as the Senate reconvenes in November, there will be an opportunity to push them to pass the bill, just like the House of Representatives did (overwhelmingly) in early October.

Here’s a link with more information, posted on our website (www.unemployedworkers.org).

    Thanks very much!

Is it legal to terminate an employees medical benefits if they sign up for EUC. That is what happened at my current job. I got a form letter saying I qualify for EUC from a previous employer, I sent it in, started getting EUC. My current employer thought it was a unemployment claim against her company and immediately cut my medical benefits which I NEED and is the ONLY reason I work there. Are her actions legal? Is there any references to finding out more about the legality of this?

They have to offer you insurance, but you have to pay for it. They can’t terminate it and leave you without insurance, but it will be expensive.

  • Anonymous 10/29/2008 7:51am

Why are they talking about this on CSPAN right now? Are they so stupid they forgot this bill was replaced or is it still being pushed and there are no updates on this site yet?
