Call and apply for extension over phone. They will sign you up for weeks dating back to July 6 and have to call in after that as usual. Checks are supposed to come in mid August. Don’t wait on your letter.
I got my letter saturday and applied over the phone monday, how long before I can expect the funds to be on my debit card guys?
The term “stagflation” — an economic condition of both continuing inflation and stagnant business activity, together with an increasing unemployment rate — described the new economic malaise. Inflation seemed to feed on itself. People began to expect continuous increases in the price of goods, so they bought more. This increased demand pushed up prices, leading to demands for higher wages, which pushed prices higher still in a continuing upward spiral. Labor contracts increasingly came to include automatic cost-of-living clauses, and the government began to peg some payments, such as those for Social Security, to the Consumer Price Index, the best-known gauge of inflation. While these practices helped workers and retirees cope with inflation, they perpetuated inflation. The government’s ever-rising need for funds swelled the budget deficit and led to greater government borrowing, which in turn pushed up interest rates and increased costs for businesses and consumers even further. With energy costs and interest rates high, business investment languished and unemployment rose to uncomfortable levels.
I am from Michigan. I received unemployment through TRA and it was entinguished in March 2008.not went back to work because I am still finishing my schooling. When should I receve a letter. Any info is welcome and appreciated.

THE PRESIDENT: You know, we — we’re always open-minded to things, but I — let’s see how this stimulus package works and let us deal with the housing market with a good piece of housing legislation, and the energy issue with good energy legislation, and the trade issue with good trade legislation.
People say, aww, man, you’re running out of time, nothing is going to happen. I’ll remind people what did happen: We got a good troop funding bill with no strings; got a GI Bill; we got FISA. What can we get done? We can get good housing legislation done. We can get good energy legislation done. We can get trade bills done. I mean, there’s plenty of time to get action with the United States Congress, and they need to move quickly. We can get judges approved.
And so I’m — we’ll see what happens up there. I’m confident if they put their mind to it we can get good legislation.
Let’s see here — yes, Mark.

Senate Democrats plan to unveil a second fiscal stimulus plan next week, this one worth at least $50 billion, arguing that soaring energy prices and the crisis in the housing market require a major jobs program to kick-start a faltering economy.

The Senate Appropriations Committee will consider a stimulus plan Tuesday, the first step toward legislation drafted by Democrats that President Bush and congressional Republican leaders oppose. The final details of the Senate legislation are still being developed as lawmakers and staff members pick through an assortment of traditional liberal programs, such as increased funding for highway construction, food stamps and home heating assistance. Also under consideration is another round of government payments to workers.
“We literally are trying to put money into the economy and get it going again,” said Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.), the majority whip and a senior member of the Appropriations Committee.
The House Appropriations Committee is putting together its own plan, but the timing of its introduction is uncertain. Neither chamber is expected to act until September.
Republicans rejected the pending plans as partisan legislation timed to arrive on the House and Senate floors just before the November election.
“Sounds political to me,” said House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio), who helped craft the $152 billion stimulus plan approved in February.
In contrast to the current stimulus talks, that first package of payments to individuals and business tax cuts was the result of bipartisan talks that involved Boehner, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. It was approved by both chambers and was signed into law less than three weeks after the three unveiled their proposal.
This stimulus program is being written solely by Democrats. President Bush has argued that more time is needed to allow the effects of the tax payments — which were first mailed in May — to work through the economy. And congressional Republicans contend that the most important economic step Congress can take now is approving more domestic oil drilling in an effort to decrease fuel costs, a position Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) have rejected.
“The most significant thing you could do to stimulate the economy is convince the world that the United States is going to increase its oil supply,” said Sen. Robert Bennett (R-Utah), an economics expert close to GOP leadership. “I give them credit for recognizing the need for stimulus; I just disagree with the prescription.”
Pelosi told CNN yesterday that she is seeking $50 billion, but that other legislators were pushing for more. Reid told reporters yesterday he is “not a rebate fan,” tamping down speculation that another round of checks would go out to the public. Single workers who earn up to $75,000 received as much as $600 and couples got as much as $1,200 in the first payments.
Other lawmakers appear more supportive of another round of payments.
“It’s on the table, without getting into what people like or don’t like,” said House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.). Pelosi told reporters she also favors more payments.
House and Senate Democrats agreed they had consensus on a large infusion of infrastructure spending, particularly on highways.
Other items under consideration are helping states with Medicaid costs and more money for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, as well as a possible extension of unemployment benefits beyond the 13 extra weeks that were recently approved.
Despite Democrats’ urgent calls for economic action, there are no plans to bring the legislation to the floor until mid-September. Privately, some Democrats said this will put the most pressure on Republicans to break with Bush and the GOP leadership by supporting a potentially popular spending package just before the fall campaign.
Reid said the Senate, which deadlocked yesterday on a bill to curb oil speculation and adjourned until Tuesday, has other pressing issues to address before the stimulus legislation.
SMILES-YES-ALL SMILES~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I GET PAID TOMORROW. I WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE WHO PUSHED FOR THIS EXTENSION. YOU ARE ALL FIGHTERS RIGHT TO THE VERY END.
More good news for Connecticut.
I just got off the phone with a Senator on the Labor Committee. He said effective immediately, overtime has been authorized for Labor Department Employees. He said if I don’t receive a check by the beginning of August they will really put the heat on them.
I also received another email from my Representative.
See folks, it works when you stand up and be heard.
THAT IS WHAT EVERYONE IN U.S.A. NEEDS TO DO

Has anyone got a check in North Carolina?
Offices of the state Employment Security Commission are accepting applications for extended unemployment benefits.
Congress recently authorized extending benefits. The maximum amount of benefits under the extension is one-half of a person’s original eligibility.
Work search requirements remain the same, — recipients must actively search for work two days a week.
The commission mailed notices to more than 260,000 residents who had previously exhausted unemployment benefits. People who filed an initial claim effective on or after May 7, 2006, are potentially eligible for extended benefits.
Unemployed workers do not have to receive the notice to apply for an extension.
Applications can be filed online at www.ncesc.com.

TX. I called this number yesterday just as the Tx person posted a few days ago @ 1 877 832 5800 ( I couldn’t get through until then). I got through after 20 minutes and was told to verify my name, address, telephone number. The woman proceeded to tell me about the need to be truthful about my statements and then she asked me about my still being unemployed and if I had any employment before a certain date. Once that was done, she told me that the debit card that I got my benefits on before could still be used to get my payments. She gave me the teleserve number to call when it is time to certify again, this number may be different depending on where you live so I will not post it. She put me into the IVR to set my pin and that was it. I did not get my letter yet, however I took a chance on calling and it worked. So Good Luck to all and hope that everyone gets some relief soon.
Texas, this was on the other site, I hope it helps you.
LOL sorry about the typing errors. I guess I should invest in some lessons instead of FOOD< GASS< OR OTHER BILLS
I’m from NY. I read their website and it talked about making a list of those eligible. It also had all the requirements which were the same as the original sign up. It told about if your year ending datewas still good or if it had run out what to do. So i just cetrfied my unemployment and submitted it. I got money placed in my account and still haven’t heard if i did something wrong or not. Again that’s from New York. Hope this will help
I live in Wisconsin and still haven’t received any check yet. What’s taking so long for us to receive our checks?
What number do we call in texas to do it over the phone, I also have not received my letter and I can not wait any loner!
Has anyone drawn an unemployment extension check so far, huh? In any State, huh?
Connecticut is really screwed up. they still don’t have anything in place and don’t have clue when the extension program will go into effect. somebody said something like they might start sending out letters out in late august. Late August, JEEEZZZZ!!!!
It looks like Texas is moving forward. I was on hold for over an hour earlier this week in Michigan, BUT, when I finally got through I received good news. How long have we been waiting for this thing to go through Congress and then the President. I guess an hour is not all that long. I have maxxed out my credit cards so this extension is a short term life saver.
TX – I also called them, 45min hold!!!!
They file me over the phone
