This bill provides my company with returning H2B workers. Grant it we only get three workers per year, however the local labor pool is not interested in doing the work that is required for a Garden Center/Landscaping Company and when local labor is hired they usually last one to two weeks before walking off the job. Please consider this bill to allow returning H2B workers to not be part of the cap. As it stands right now, my company is cut out of the cap for 2008 due to the insuficient cap put on H2B visas. My company has been in business for over 50 years and have seen many changes to the greens industry, we have hired many from our community through out the years and still do. However, many of the young people that we used to rely on do not want to do physically demanding jobs, thus they hire in and then quit as stated before. Therefore, we have no choice but to use the H2B program and have had good workers that respect and obey the laws of our country. One of our workers would be returning for the third consecutive year, in 2008, however as it stands now he will not be able to. I have been in contact with him several times this past month, trying to explain to him that our government is not allowing any more workers of his status into the country. He was told by the recruiter at his local recruiting office that he could work for another company, but he refused to do so, because he wants to come back to my company. If this bill does not go through, then we might be forced to seize operations of our landscaping division, thus playing into the downward spiraling economy.
