Honda already tried this. Then he redistricts and the UN monitors.
Long overdue! No more backroom dealings and pandering to the big states
He redistricts so the States like Colorado go dem. Obama passed and went to the stadium instead in Denver. Maybe he’s really against the reform or its something to do with the sled?
what’s the use in voting if electoral vote will override our votes, anyway???
The electoral college was designed to be a preventative measure to ensure that broad and powerful factions would not use populism/populist tactics to achieve ‘Tyranny of the Majority’. Sadly, the electoral college was eviscerated by the 12th Amendment which served to empower and enhance the capacity of Populist tactics to entrench our government.
One of the most important aspects of the Electoral College (one which if revived would have numerous positive effects in quelling the power of factions) was the provision which did not acknowledge the party structure and made the runner-up Vice President.
Sadly, after the passing of America’s founders those that inherited the system sought to increase their power rather than preserve the protections provided them. This has lead to the evolution of the Two Faction System which now dominates American politics.
Let us remember that this is the United States of America and not the Peoples Democracy of America. We are a nation of states and a Republic as well. The Electoral college was designed to give the States by size a weighted say in who would be President.
What shall we do when we have more than two main candidates, say three or four, and no one gets a heavy plurality? The Electoral College has a purpose, even after it has been diluted by the politicians.
Tread carefully here – this is a core element in the Union of States called the United States of America.
