This phrase, “has made a good faith effort to comply”, contained within this, is dependent on the CPSA actually doing anything to protect children, which it does not. The only thing the Child Protection Act does is to damage businesses and unnecessarily limit people’s lives. There is no evidence that any of the amount of lead in anything that has been banned as a result of this legislation has had a deleterious effect on any child anywhere. What this propose amendment would actually do would be to undermine freedoms even further, by pretending to have solved something. I say “pretending”, because it requires a “good faith” attempt by “entities” to comply. Contrast this to the legislation sponsored by Sen. Jim DeMint, R-SC and Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-GA of any reason to comply, because there isn’t one.
