    An EXCELLENT idea.

Think of how much money the Federal Government can save without being required to print things in other languages. Let’s start being a grown up country and require people to learn English the same way we would have to learn their language in their country. It’s ok to be proud of who we are and our heritage.

America is a country founded by three dominant European factions, the French, English, and Spanish. The oldest European founded city in the United States is a Spanish colony in Florida, St. Augustine. This only covers the tip of diversity in European American settlement and does not begin to incorporate the Asian influences on the West and the Native American presense across the country. It seems you would rather forget this great nations heritage rather than be proud and preserve it.

One language, One flag, One country!!!!! And its not just about saving money is it? Everyone should be on board for this, unless your Un-American.

It will never pass. This is racist and anti-U.N. ideology. (At least this is what we are going to be told). This should have been done a long time ago.

200 plus years later and finally a bill that makes sense. The fact we have to legislate it, is the sad part. If we can only get our kids in school to actually learn it, well things would be great then…

WOW, after all these bills requiring time and our tax dollars to save the french mosquitos and such, this one makes sense. I am tired of having to press 1 for English in my own country.

I’m in. This makes sense and should easily pass. There are scores of folks who would love to volunteer to teach English as a second language. This would empower those who learn to fully communicate in their communities and beyond.

Please let this pass! As a Californian, please believe me when I say this need, not a want, and needs to pass! We are going broke and still we err on the side of political correctness vs. what’s best for our state/country financially. If you want to live here so badly – learn the language! The politicians need to stop playing with OUR money and direct it towards helping our economy thrive. How about using this money for tax breaks for companies that bring their manufacturing back from other countries and have everything made in the US. No more issues with China – or Japan!
