Seriously? Seriously? Because the DEMOCRATS are such grand Americans? Maybe you should get your priorities right before you broadcast your ignorance to the entire world. I'm neither Rep. or Dem. or Lib. or Green. I am an American, did not vote for Obama, absolutely LOVE my country, and did vote for a Republican in the last general presidential election. Maybe you should study your history more before you try to infect the world with ignorance. The reason that more people voted in this election is because they wanted change, not what was offered. The parents of my students voted for Obama because they thought that if he were elected, they would not be evicted from their apartment. They have absolutely no idea about anything that they voted for. If you ask 80 percent of voters that voted for Obama or Dem's, they will say they just wanted something different. Well, it's obvious to me that different is not always better!
Different is better. No more facism and war criminals in the White House, Senate, and House. If I ask 80% of the people who voted for change across the political landscape, 67% still say that the direction that America needs to take.
Unfettered free market capitalism is a failed theory. It will be replaced with a theory that has sustainability. We are fortunate to have the best people in carge now, or the nation would have collapsed.
If by 'real Americans' you mean people who: voted for Obama because they felt it was historic, because he was black, because they wanted this mystical 'change', because they actually understood and wanted the truly radical agenda he was (and currently is) pushing, or because they expect anything and everything good flows from the marbled gates of Washington unknowing that this government was not based on government's abilities but on individual liberties.
Unlike you sir, there are millions of us out here in the 'vocal minority' who's faith lies in the hands of the American people, NOT in some popularly elected and sometimes hereditary aristocracy and currently in the White House demagogue. Unlike you sir, I believe that The Constitution is sacrosanct and was written by men far wiser and far more politically in tune than any of us here or anyone in Washington. They knew and saw the demons of tyranny and oppression that comes from the influence of power an authority that lie in the human psyche. They wrote The Constitution for the express purpose of defending the people from the government they were creating, not for the purpose of electing so called 'leaders' with 'mandates' to force on its citizens.
The mandate will duly elected. It isn't forced change, it is the consequence of 14 yearsof failed policy.
Bush and Cheney said the Constitution is just a piece of paper.
So instead of trying to put it back together, we don't we just take out a match and burn it? I highly doubt that even a quarter of those that voted for the President knew that this was the 'mandate' that they were getting. I highly doubt that anyone would willingly vote themselves into serfdom unless they were completely ignorant to what they were voting for.
Conservative principles have nearly destroyed the nation - twice. The new direction will be unfamiliar because it is not yours. I have tired of the Reich wing propaganda, as have most Americans. That is why so many Republicans were tossed out of office in Novemeber, and even after 100 days of a Democrat majority, another has been elected.
The talking points have been repeated verbatim, everywhere you post them. How much do they pay to to post your insanity?
Huh, at least you think I'm getting paid to post here while I think you're just genuinely posting what you've been so ignorantly led to believe. And what conservative principles would those be? The ones that have been thrown out the window by Bush and now Obama, namely being fiscally conservative? If you mean that the -Lack- of conservative principles have nearly destroyed the nation, then yes, I would have to agree with you. All I can say is that it's going to be an interesting next four years. I hope I'll still recognise the country as the USA and not as the USSA.
with Thousands of Teachers loosing their jobs accross this Nation I think I'd be more worried if our Children even Graduate.. The 23 year old who gunned down 3 police officers if I remember correctly never graduated High school.. I think having our Children get a good Education K-12 should be alittle more of a priority, for our Taxes to go towards.. Hell Teachers dont pull in 150-200K like the Directors GS-15 would cost us for that one position.. Imagine how many Teachers at 35k a year would give.. thats 5 teachers (give or take one) that the money for one position would create for our Children.. seeing this is what it really comes down to.. Helping give our Children a future.. thats my thoughts thanks.
I work in the public school systems. Making our children educated is the future. Without that they will be the mindless sheep the government wants. These children know nothing about the Constitution and checks and balances, they should know this before their ABCs. This is America, let's take her back, for us and our POSTERITY!
As always with these bills, it is really important to read the fine print...like amendments. This one is particularly alarming, seing as how our Constitutional right is protest, per the first amendment.
H.Amdt49 Amendment to prohibit organizations from attempting to influence legislation; organize or engage in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes; and assist, promote, or deter union organizing.
Again, I'm a history teacher, and the last time the governments of the world attempted to prohibit such things, it really did not go so well...which is why we HAVE a Bill of Rights. I'm hoping that they have a seriously different view of political organizations than I do, because if it's the same, I guess George Washington's ideas of no political parties will finally come to fruition...in a very non-American/non-democratic way.
Something to think on.
If people want to volunteer to help others, let them volunteer. I just don't want to pay for it. I work hundreds of hours as a volunteer every year, and I don't expect to be paid for that time. This is just a work program disguised as a "voluntary service" bill.
I say we encourage abortion, push stem cell research canceling out heriditary traits, cycle through the Mush Heads already in the system and start over with robotic little creatures that chant all the liberal mantras of the day. Maybe we can call them ' Little Nuts" a branch of ACORN...or "Ameri-Cry Babies",... or "Sniveling Service" or best of all "Weasel Whiners, a Politician Father and Son Group.
Everyone, Pleasae pray for the safety of the Salt Marsh Mouse in the San Fransisco Bay area. Our little Nancy P. is more worried about this little guy than she is about our troops on food stamps. Thirty million bucks ain't much to Chucky Shumer but it sure is to me. Think of all the mush heads we could pay to seek out and save the little mousees.
There is nothing wrong with volunteering our services, but I WILL NOT BE TOLD TO DO SO!!! Look back in time people, history repeats itself. Why? because every dictator looks at a past dictator for guidance. Germany was a Democracy, and Hitler came to power legally, by the people. Mussolini was adored by his people, and you see what he did to them. So any of these sound familiar?
I understand that there is "compensation" of some form to those that complete the "volunteer" work. Doesn't compensation negate volunteerism?
It seems to me that the government is trying to push people toward volunteering for things that serves the government's (should I have said socialism's) growth and strength.
This has nothing to do with encouraging people to volunteer their time. This is about furthering government and socialism.
Change is coming. Welcome to socialism.
Using the federal government to support these volunteer programs is definitely unconstitutional. Governmental support of these programs through tax collected money is just a way to funnel our money to democratic groups like say, ACORN? Read though the amendments where they tried to block ACORN from receiving any funds, but what a surprise, it didn't pass.
I have only one question...if all our children are "serving" who in the world is going to pay off this enormous Trillions of Dollars deficient the government has spent us into after the babyboomers and the rest of us are broke?
It is unfortunate that we are at the point now that more and more Americans see an opportunity to get something for "free" from the government. Oh people. When will you realize, that free-markets bring you the lowest cost or best quality product. The government gives you one choice - the one that benefits them the most (not you.) Sadly, the Tax-and-spenders have Main-Stream-Media to propagandize the masses about the wonders of socialism-in-action. The more people on-the-dole, the more votes at the pole.
Good Grief! all this hyperventilating about kids performing community service. Here in Seattle, our high schools require 60 hours of community service to graduate. Students can choose what kind of volunteer work they want to do. Many volunteer at local hospitals, retirement homes, food banks, parks, the zoo, the list goes on and on.
My son spent 10 days camping and removing invasive species in the North Cascades followed by a week of backpacking. He had a fantastic time (except for getting some bee stings!)
I don't think there's been any great outcry over this graduation requirement; most parents seem to think it's a good learning experience for their kids. Of course, this is ultra liberal Seattle...but seriously folks, I have a hard time understnding how anyone could object to encouraging people to serve their communities...
Even though the majority of Americans have been expressing distain for this bill, our "Representives" voted it in anyway. This just shows you that "they" (the politicians) don't care what we think or want. We better clean house, senate, reps or we are no longer "We the People"!
This bill is evil because it bans Americorps workers from voting, protesting, joining a union, religious worship, religious organizations, political organizations.
This is unconstitution whether this is volunteering or not because congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion nor prohibit free speech, freedom to press, and freedom to peacefully asemble (Unions).
Obama is disobeyed the Constitution, hes a duck just like Bush, people may saw I'm a racist but in fact Hes Just Like Bush and Bush is White, so color doesn't matter the fascists like to make out like we are racist they are ignorant.
This isn't racism, this is fascism.
We don't need MORE spending on frivilous bills. Why does it cost 5.7 billion to "volunteer". Volunteer is FREE! If you "volunteer" at a hospital, they don't pay you. If you "volunteer" at a library, they don't PAY you. So who gets this 5.7 billion in TAX PAYERS DOLLARS?
More government indoctrination. I listened as all the libs said that Bush II was breaking the law, becoming a dictator, etc. Boy, if Bush was a dictator, then Obama is already a Hitler. I know, I know, some called Bush Hitler. We're in trouble people. Where and when does the superfluous spending stop?
wow, make a comment and nothing appears. Must be BO is watching
The most frighting part of all these bills- as some one asked Is the constitution still in the house? The gang leader taught constitutional law. Now that is scary!
And a good chunk of change goes to a former organization that is being indicted in a couple of states- as we speak, of which the gang leader was CLOSELY- OR INTIMATELY WORKING WITH.
20 million in tax payer dollars to immigrate Hamas refugees to the US

What the heck is up with that, huh. I figured that out myself this morn.Must be one of the no-info spots
Every body sees the F.D.I.C. enlargement as well?
Work and you must give to someone that don't have! Don't work and the government gives you a check to live!
So that is the conclusion? We who work for a living pay into the largest charity in history, the federal goverment!
1052 to 95 that is a .09 acceptance ratio and it passes anyway. Ut ohhhhhhh time to change the government. Hide your kids as soon as you can. They will train them to come to your door to collect the guns cause they know it will be hard for you to shoot your own kids! The government will be able to develop spies, moles and snitches that would even rat out their parents. Directly out of 1984!!
i am not communist, nor am i particularly pro-communist, but seriously dont just label anything obviously anti-american communist. communism is not the polar opposite of democracy, and labelling anything offensive to yourself like that is simply the hate and dislkie talking.
that being said, i am also against this bill, as we cannot afford the costs to pay for it, and the language is vauge enough to scare me.
