Thorium Molten Salt Reactors (TMSR) have a number of fine characteristics that make them good candidates for applications that involve safe operation while providing ample power with exceptional power to weight. The Navy could hardly do better than give consideration to this excellent less waste generating nuclear technology.

It has a lot of history on molten salt reactors or liquid fluoride thorium reactors( LFTR pronounced lifter).
This is a great technology if it can be done. The navy can use its own spent fuel. This type of reactor breeds u 233 from the thorium. But it can also use plutonium and other fission products in the fuel. Which burns up the so called nuclear waste.
The navy could run for years on what they already have in storage.
We have enough thorium stockpiled in Nevada to power the whole world for 3 years.
Thorium does not have to be enriched.
