This bill is another nail in the coffin for America, this hasn't worked in other countries and won't work here. there are many other problems in this country, this bill would cause many more problems. I feel this is only one step planned in the next four years to errode our constitution. What are these idots thinking?

Well Wayno it's like this short and sweet...

The police will only respond to a crime in progress or later.

    Ask yourself this...
If your home was suddenly invaded by some drugged-up moron(s),
would you rather have a gun or a telephone in your hand?

If it's the phone, Darwin's Law of Survival will deal with you.
Try using your head for something other than a propaganda receptacle.

I respect the right to free speech (1st Amendment), so why can't people respect my right to protect myself from criminals, and more importantly, from the possibility of a tyrannical government? This bill simply recognizes what most of the free states in this country already recognize. It's a step in the right direction. I HOPE IT PASSES!!

If these idiots would look at the crime statistics in the cities that have banned firearms they might see that these cities have much higher firearm related attacks and killings compared to other large cities where it is legal to carry a concealed weapon and own one to protect yourself and family. I guess they cannot see the light; they have been blinded by the light! Who elected these fools? Not me…

I suppose this bill. We all need to let our congressmen know that we want them to support it too. We must make our voices louder than those of the gun control groups.

But you see, for now, people here and in the streets as well, that for the next four years, as if it's the Democrats who are behind this, or trying so hard to push to take our guns away. It isn't!!! Because if it doesn't go thru now, those same idiots who are really behind wanting our guns taken away, will just come back during the next four years, and the next four years, until they succeed! That's where our government needs to have the balls to tell these jerk offs, now look, you people have brought this issue before us too many times already! We will NOT address this issue again, and will not waste time in the House and Senate to RE address an issue you've been told NO on so many times before. Then they should have those assholes escorted out of the building and banned from ever bringing up the issue again. It's been addressed, they've been told no, so don't waste time addressing it again when there are other issues they could be spending that time on!

This bill, HR17 supports your right to defend yourself. I think you have confused this bill with HR45 which will require firearm registration.

But Theultimateg, check for yourself here. HR45 IS ATTACHED to Bill HR17. So by pushing for the passage of HR17, you're also pushing without you knowing, the passage of HR45 as well!!! Says it right there on the page describing Bill HR17 that other Bills attached to this one is HR45! They're proposing that you CAN defend yourself and family, but with that right you'll also have to register your guns and jump thru all their hoops in order to keep those guns. Read it all before you speak please.

Don't worry about what any laws the rouge government makes. Just ensure that you have a personal cache of weapons and ammo. And a word from the wise. If you don't have any arms you need to start purchasing them now while you still can. I don't belive it will be to long in the future before you will need these weapons to defend what is rightfully and justly yours as stated in our constitution and bill of rights. Wake up America!

Way back in nthe 1930's in a europiean country, a man came to power, and promptly caused all citizens to register all firearms, with the local police station. "For the safety of the citizens" he later decided that it would be SO much safer for all, if there were no firearms out there at all. So he directed the police to take the list of firearm owners, which listed the name of the owner, the firearm(s), and the address. The police complied. Then the leader of this nation was quoted in international newspapers, as to how 'his' country was safe for women and families. 'Why one could walk the streets at any time of the day or night with out a thought for thier safety"
"Germany is now the safest country in the world"
    Adolf Hitler

The 2nd ammendment is the only one that can guarantee the other ammendments. 1st. they want gun control (ask canada, austrailia, china, how thats working out for them. 2nd. they want to take away your free speech with the so called "fairness doctrine". TRUE GUN CONTROL;HITTING WHERE YOU AIM!! IF MORE AMERICAN PATRIOTS DON'T STAND UP AND DO SOMETHING, WE WILL BE THE USSA - UNITED SOCIALIST STATES OF AMERICA- FULL BLOWN COMMUNISM IS NOT FAR BEHIND. NOT ME,STOCK UP ON BULLETS AND BEANS, CAUSE IT'S GONNA BE A FIGHT, JUST WAIT AND SEE

I really hope this bill can be passed, and have a veto proof majority, otherwise, it will never be signed into law. It will be vetoed, because it goes against Obama's antigun agenda.

Barack Hussein Obama's Ten Point Plan to "Change" The Second Amendment

    1) Ban us of firearms for home defense.

    2) Pass Federal laws eliminating your Right-to-Carry.

    3) Ban the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns.

    4) Close down 90% of the gun shops in America.

    5) Ban rifle ammunition commonly used for hunting and sport shooting.

    6) Increase Federal taxes on guns and ammunition by 500%.

    7) Restore voting rights for five million criminals including those who have been convicted of using a gun to commit a violent crime.

    8) Expand the Clinton semi-auto ban to include millions more firearms.

    9) Mandate a government-issued license to purchase a firearm.

    10) Appoint judges to the U.S. Supreme Court and Federal judiciary who share his views on the Second Amendment.

I think you forgot the 11th point of his plan and that's to use the licensing database to confiscate your guns. Then he can quote Hitler with the adage "Amerika is now the safest country in the world".

This is an essential right for citizens. Every person in this country has the right to defend themselves. Criminals should not use their rights against a person protecting themselves. Too often a criminal gets away with this, suing a home owner for shooting them when the criminal has no right being there in the first place. Just my opinion.

Among the natural rights of the colonists are these: First a right to life, secondly to liberty, and thirdly to property; together with the right to defend them in the best manner they can.

Tim .44mag-Xring. If you want to see where we in the U.S. are headed with this Liberal gungrab mentality (as in: insanity), Google "Tony Martin" and see how well it works to defend life and property with a fire arm in the U.K. Bear in mind that the U.K. does not have a constitution/Bill of Rights. P.S. On second thought: If you may be a little mentally challenged don't bother. It'll definetly send you over the edge.(17 YES-45 NO)

It's a terrible shame, that we have to propose a bill, that gives us a right already established by the Bill of Rights. If this bill does not pass, it will be an admission that our elected officials agree that the constitution isn't worth the paper it's written on. Pass or not I will continue to exercise the rights that, 'we the people', told our 'servant' government, that we hold without the possbility of infringement.

If you are found in my home tonight. You will be found there in the morning. To the person who spoke of being a contientous objector. The constitution gives you the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The right to life means just what it says. You do not have to let anyone take it from you, and you may employ any means necessary to accomplish that task. Self defense laws state that if you are in fear of your life, you may use equal and opposite force. If the criminal is attempting to take your life, or you reasonably think that he will, you have the right to kill them. Of course you also have the right to give up your life, and meet your maker.

This bill would begin to bring the country as a whole in line with the "Castle Doctrine" or "Persons and Property Protection Act" that has been signed into law in many states. The ability of an individual to protect themselves their family or their property is a notion that can be recognized by all. Wether or not a gun is used for that purpose isnt the point. The ability of the american people to exercise that ability, and use their rights under the 2nd ammendment and use a firearm for that purpose with out fear is.

I already employ the Castle Doctrine in my house. I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
