This bill will add further pressure to a failing regime, Providing hope for a free Iran

Lets hope we have a Bill before the Iranians mount their nukes on their Shah-3b delivery systems.
What I don’t understand is why there is no update on this Bill since it was drafted back in April.

This bill will only make the problem worse. Sanctions will only help those in power to demonize the United States. We can’t keep doing this in the Middle East.

When, if ever, have sanctions actually worked? They didn’t work on Iraq, they haven’t worked on Cuba, and they won’t work on Iran.

This bill is a terrible idea.

Do sanctions work? What do we mean if we ask if they ‘work’? Not as well as an air strike, but they are cheaper by far in terms of cost (lives, planes, munitions, etc.) . Sanctions are mostly symbolic. They don’t directly cause rouge regimes to change behavior but they do weaken these criminal states. In that sense, the regime is less capable of certain destructive actions which provides a benefit to the party that imposes them.

The only thing this bill will accomplish is to provide the Iranian government with a much needed scapegoat, and will just end up hurting the Green Revolution.
