This Bill, H.R. 2254, has no merit and neither does S 1939 because there is no qualified evidence that dioxin ever left the land mass of Vietnam and/or was ever available in the offshore environment in sufficient quantity to harm units operating there. Despite all the protestations, the IOM has been unable to find any.
This Bill proposes to make a mockery of veterans disability compensation by compensating those that were not disabled by military service. In other words, a handout. Something for nothing.
This Bill, more appropriately, should be called the Veterans Handout Bill.
Every disabled veteran should be outraged that some folks are seeking to use veterans compensation for personal gain.
Mr. BillSmith, Please explain that to every veteran who carried body bags of the fallen aboard ships, helicopters, planes truck. Explain to them that the deceased was fighting and since you were riding you don’t warrant any benefits. Be real before you make a blanket statement link there is no merrit! I just hope you served in the military, and if so I will have some respect for you but not your comment posted here.
They drank the water that was sprayed with dioxin….Mr Smith speaks of what he does not know
I love the way these people try to make an argument when they don’t know what they are talking about. Mr. Smith please review the actual evidence before you open your mouth, it would definitely make you sound less uninformed as you now appear by your comment.
The IOM did find a positive and direct connection between the Herbicides used in Vietnam and Naval Veterans of that War. NRCET did find a direct and positive link to herbicides used in Vietnam and Naval Veterans of that War. Numerous records have been located that verify the fact that the Veterans covered by these proposed bills were in fact exposed to the chemicals of the herbicides used in that War.
Now as far as making a “mockery of veterans disability compensation,” uniformed comments and ignorance is what makes a mockery of anything.
Every Veteran should be outraged at the tactic’s used by the DVA when determining disability claim. “Never try to appear above other, they can see you.”
nighbert is so very wrong it makes laugh….His head is so far in the sand that he can’t even see daylight….Would he tell those that served in Laos, Cambodia at Thailand….They aren’t covered for exposure either…. So keep your head in the sand so all of them can kick your butt…..
Sorry NIghbert,
I didn’t mean you by my my comment. I meant Mr. Smith…I looked as I was typing and saw your name and put it down by mistake…

SENATORS, I prepared, mixed and sprayed Agent Orange herbicides on Andersen AFB Guam and off base AF fuels facilities and pipeline. I have many illnesses from this exposure and so does Sgt Stanton who worked in the 43rdCES Sq Fuels Maintenance branch. I have been denied for 22 yrs by the VA because of the lack of wording by Congress on Agent Orange exposure. Congressman Bob Filner on bluewaternavy.org interview said All Vietnam War veterans no matter where they were if exposed to AO will be covered for presumptive illnesses. He said any veteran on Guam would be covered. Saying that, this bill should be amended immediately to reflect those thoughts. Any veteran exposed to AO during the Vietnam War period is needs to be covered and those areas need to be added immediately to this bill. Guam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Korea DMZ, Okinawa. Please. All current presumptive illnesses need to be addressed immediately to include AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE MCTD MIXED CONNECTIVE TISSUE DISEASE NOW PLEASE
" I prepared, mixed and sprayed Agent Orange herbicides on Andersen AFB Guam and off base AF fuels facilities and pipeline"
Ridiculous!!! No one ever used Agent Orange on Guam because it simply didn’t exist there. The VA website has lists of every location world wide where AO was used, stores or tested and Guam is NOT in any of the lists.
“Ridiculous” You are a real asshole. a real butt sucker. Listen you son of a bitch why dont you come and see me face to face asshole and call me a liar and see what you get. Listen buttfucker.. I was there you pansy ass and I hand pumped the fucking barrel into the tanker asshole and I also poured the fifty pound bags of shit in through the fucking manhole cover.. now why dont you come where I live and tell me to my face and see what kind of reply you get asshole.
“Would he tell those that served in Laos, Cambodia at Thailand….They aren’t covered for exposure either.”
Yup, I sure would.
No AO was ever used in Cambodia.
With the exception of a limited test conducted in 1964 at a remote Royal Thai Army Replacement base, Pran Buri where no US troops were ever stationed other than 5 US Army personnel from Ft Detrick, NO AO was ever used in Thailand
RanchHand aircraft flew many defoliation missions in Laos but any troops that were illegally in Laos, are already covered by presumption as they entered thru Vietnam.
“They drank the water that was sprayed with dioxin”
Oh, puleeze. Give me a break. It was Agent Orange (a herbicide) that was sprayed, not dioxin. Dioxin was just a contaminant of one of the components of AO. Why in gods green earth would anyone spray herbicide on water? AO was created to defoliate the jungle and deny the enemy cover. Did you think the jungle grew on water.
" Please explain that to every veteran who carried body bags of the fallen aboard ships"
Hey, ya gotta stop making this stuff up. I don’t know of one blue water veteran that ever died aboard ship due to enemy action.
Mr. WlmRenshaw, have you ever heard of water sheds, brooks, creeks, streams, rivers that empty into the sea. Do you really believe that the AO just killed the plants and tress and then disappeared without spreading to the water source. As a Blue Water Sailor who is no battling NHL, Prostate Cancer, PN and Type 2 Diabetis, I have a very good reason for reversing the decision made in 2002, with boots on the ground clause. Just my opinion. BLS :)
“NRCET did find a direct and positive link to herbicides used in Vietnam and Naval Veterans of that War.”
I dunno about Bill but the NRCET was never peer reviewed or replicated and it relied on the ASSUMPTION that dioxin was in the water used by the ships evaps when, in fact, there is no evidence dioxin ever entered the South China Sea much less any specific amount.
Why can’t we extend this to all those who server in South East Asia, Tailand, Cambodia, and Loas as well. There is very good documentation that supports that from the military. After our unit reunion of those serving with me in Thailand there are a number of those with Agent Orange related illness; diabetes II, Cancer, etc… SEA was in the Theater of War for the Vietnam War. All that served there were awarded the VSM, and VCM. We have the illness to match. Come on Uncle Sam, step up, you give more money than is needed to foreign government that have not done as much for you as we have.
