This bill really is important to the MARINERS who are still living. My Dad is 83 yrs old and has been waiting 64 years to receive recognition and maybe a reward for his service to this great country. He joined when he was 17 and spent 4 years delivering supplies to our troops with no real protection. Why is it that we can pass a bill that helps out men who are not true United States Citizens(filipinos) Yet we negelect our own great Americans:( this is a very sad situation!! Pass this bill so my Dad and the remainder of WWII Mariners can enjoy what is left of their lives
My father who is turning 84 in July, served as well in WWII. This breaks my heart and leaves me angry that him and so many of these other men have been forgotten. Please pass this bill before he is gone. Although my father never got much from the Goverment except his medical that he so waited for in 1988 has always held his head so HIGH and PROUD for serving his Country. Please return this favor and pass this bill for him and all other Merchant Mariners.
The Merchant Mariners were in the most dangerous military service which had the highest mortality rates while in service. Most joined when they were 16 (like my dad) or 17, without concern for their own lives. It is insane that this is taking so long to pass as most of the Mariners left are in their 80’s or older. Do it now while they can still enjoy this honor.
Just like those that have posted before me, my father was a Merchant Marine during WWII. He is 83 and in failing health. It’s a shame that these politicians are taking so long to do the right thing. I’d bet if one of their fathers had been a Merchant Marine during WWII they would be pushing real hard to get this much needed law passed. Our Senator need to get off their rumps and get this law passed.
I am not familiar with this website, all I know is that my dad asked me to help him get a letter faxed out to several Senators to get this Bill passed, as you all know, they need to be compensated while the Veterans are STILL with us. I can’t tell if this bill has been passed or not by looking on this site, I do know as of July 3, 2010 he has yet to see a check nor has he been updated about what is going on. At his age, the internet is NOT an option. Can someone please enlighten me and let me know what is going on and what I can do?
Thank you
Keli Vince – Proud Daughter of a Merchant Marine!
