Mars has very little atmosphere. The atmospheric pressure is about 7 millibars compared to Earth's 1000 millibars. Even if 100% of Mars' atmosphere was CO2, there simply isn't enough of it to exhibit much of a greenhouse effect. And, of course, Mars is millions of miles further away from the Sun and receives much less solar radiation.

Your statement is correct and seems to further support the fact that Mars, like the Earth, fails to heat up or cool down solely on the concentration of CO2 in its atmosphere, even though Mars has more CO2 ppmv than Earth.

So it should go without question that even if AGW does exist, only regulating CO2 is not the answer...there are many more factors to consider and this bill does not address them, nor does it present any solutions other than moving money around via taxes and trading credits.

The simple solution would be to remove the A from AGW, that would solve the problem PDQ...Oh yeah, I believe that's what H.R.3200 does! Congress is smart ;)

If you really believe CO2 is the issue & want to do something about it, PLANT A TREE!

I think this global warming is being used to take more control of our people and our land. All it is a bigger stronger government and less freedom of our country. Instead of WE THE PEOPLE it will be WE THE GOVERNMENT. Just look since Jan. 2009 what the government already controls in 7 months and look what they will have control of at the end of 4 years. They will not stop until all of the people and country is in their full control. Some real change from a free nation to a communist dictatorship. I hope all the liberals is happy with the change.

This is not regulation of the environment. This is regulation of PEOPLE or more precisely put “POPULATION CONTROL” The man who’s views are most responsible for the “NEW” direction the Government is taking is “Science Czar” John Holdren who said, "Such a comprehensive Planetary Regime could control the development, administration, conservation, and distribution of all natural resources, renewable or nonrenewable.” He was one of the biggest proponents of the “Ice Age Is Coming” back in the 70ies. One of the most damming things he said was, "If this could be accomplished, security might be provided by an armed international organization, a global analogue of a police force. Many people have recognized this as a goal, but the way to reach it remains obscure in a world where factionalism seems, if anything, to be increasing. The first step necessarily involves partial surrender of sovereignty to an international organization."
Eugenics as POPULATION CONTROL is the goal!

Stupid is, is what stupid does! Senators and Congressmen who vote to increase the deficit will be voted out of Congress. We the people are tired of the out of control spending and the liberal socialist agenda. Tax rates will be higher than every other country except Denmark if these bills pass. Cap and Trade, healthcare reform, take 2nd amendment gun ownership away for We the people will not tolerated.

Congress needs to promote industries that put people to work. Higher energy costs (as a result of this bill) will ultimately cut jobs and make the US less competitive in the global market.

This is another stupid bill? Higher cost to the end user "the People" who cares! Drive business out of the US, who cares! It sure is not the people who voted for this bill. There is a simple way to get people back to work in the country...repeal NAFTA! Companies are shipping product to Mexico and then bring them into the US at a cheaper cost then directly from the country of mfg. It's not rocket science!

This indicates that congress is "doing to" rather than "doing for". False science, false jobs. Not very promising.

Environmental groups across the country are split on this piece of legislation because of the limited cap on "greenhouse gasses" and the further subsidization of dirty energy like coal. In essence it's a normal energy bill with slightly more investments in green energy i.e. wind, solar, geothermal, etc. This will create jobs. However short the Waxman-Markey bill falls on environmental groups, this bill signals a sharp change from the past. A past of relying on foreign and dirty sources of energy that not only destroys our environment in the name of corporate profits but threatens our national security. Furthermore a cap on pollution, if done right, will unleash the full potential of clean & renewable energy. It's time to repower America--to unleash the power of clean energy and transform our economy to a greener future.

i'm anti anything that allows the government to spend more of my money and my kids money on pointless things. i could care less about the environment and what we may be doing to it. the earth and atmosphere like everything else in the universe had a beginning and will have an end. so don't waste my money trying to preserve the ozone when the free choice and financial security of future america is dying

This is a joke. Global warming is a scam. This is just another way for govt. to take more of our freedoms. Don't tell me a can't drive my SUV, or run my house thermostat at 74 degrees, or eat what I want. The libs are just trying to find new and fancy ways to tax more. "Please don't tax me bro."

Hey CowboyRick, sorry to "bust your bubble", but according to this bill,.... you'd have to get some "emission vouchers" for burning firewood too.

This bill could be more accurately named.....
May I suggest the "Waxman Three-Card Monte Bill"??
That's about all this bill accomplishes......it fools one party into believing they are doing some kind of social good by exchanging money to another party because they incorrectly guessed which shell the carbon was under!!
This bill is designed to give the gamblers on Wall Street one more legalized con-game.

ANY kind of legislation to control health care and private insurance is a move toward absolute control of the people. TORT Reform NOW! This lousy administration has taken over the banks, AIG, auto companies and now they're trying to get our health and energy (cost of) into their power-hungry hands. They wont stop until they have snatched every liberty away from us. VOTE OUT THIS CONGRESS IN 2010!

I have a question. Weren't "Bush-bashers" up until last year using the national deficit as one of their biggest arguments against George W. Bush? I believe they were...on almost every political show in the nation, every satirist "political" talk show, every news network, on and on throughout every part of the media. Everyday citizens started picking up on it too, and it was one of the most commonly-heard arguments against the Bush administration. So, that being true, HOW ON EARTH do the same liberal, weak-minded people ignore what Obama is doing to our national "budget"?! If national debt made Bush a bad president, Barack Obama is astronomically, exponentially, indisputably the WORST president this nation has ever had.

Check Wikipedia...coal plants do emit radiation. As for pugging in your car..oh yea let's use more electicity. All large fish in the ocean are polluted with mercury, 90% of which comes from coal generated power plants.
Are you using plug strips to turn off ALL power to audio/visual equipment? Your computer? Any thing that turns on by remote control or has a light showing is using electricity. Americans are the hogs of the world so maybe we ought to cut down on electric appliances and start being conservative. Estimates state that we could shut down some power plants if we utilized some of these stratages. Use less.
And as for the cow-methane debackle...how many buffalo used to roam the plains and we are worried about our cows!!! Get real this whole bill is a joke...also checkout the U.N.'s complicity in this deal...the same people ( U.N. Heritage Group) that wants to turn Montana into a park.

Scientists have proved in the past that the climate change is a normal. We are at the end of the last ice age, that is why the caps are melting, if you at dirt samples you will see that millions of years ago the earth went through this exact climate change. I think its pretty vain of us to believe man has the ability to change the earths climate. Besides if its global warming why have we seen mild temperatures in Michigan this year?

Yes you're right, this bill is nothing more than a way to get deeper into our pockets. It won't save the ozone or emissions, earth has its cycles. Further more,....the earth IS over populated and it will withstand people. I'm sure the earth will be around for millions more years, and all this "Boo-ha" is nothing more then scare tactics!!!!

President Obama has said utility bills will go up as a result of this bill. Yes we may see savings down the road but right now things are tight. Most people I know are barely getting by with today's prices. Stabilize the economy and then we can move on to other projects.

Please take a look at the Aye voters to see if your rep voted for this bill. With only 12% in favor of the bill, show your rep that they will be out of office if they vote against your wishes! This is a great place to see what is going on in the government, but if you are not voicing your position to your reps, you are not helping your Country!
