This will do nothing to prevent carbon emissions and only cripple American businesses, (you know the guys who create the real jobs.) This is also rife with political paybacks to GE who stands to make billions if this passes.
Waxman-Pelosi no difference, neither of them care for the people, just want to line their own pockets. We need to vote these guys out!!!!
If they wanted to line their own pockets, they'd vote with the Billion dollar Coal, Oil and Gas industries, who have had a stranglehold on clean energy innovation since it's it's inception. Most of the biggest campaign contributions go to the "congressmen" who support big industry.

The socialists/communist pass this bill this will kill what is left of the economy. How can Co2 be a polutent? If it was how could trees and plants grow? This will add 900-1200 to ones energy bill a year. How will this create jobs? If one read the recent report about Spain and its green sector, one will find for every 1 green job created 2 jobs are lost in other sectores. In other words, it is a job killer. Plus, if it wasn't for massive subsidies from the taxpayer, these technologies would die. THEY ARE NOT COMPETITIVE WITH THE FREE MARKET. This is a boondoggle. For you environment wackos, how do you explain the dalton and maunder minimum? There where no sun spot activity. Why is Greenland named, Greenland? When Leaf Erikson discoved in 1000 ad it was green with trees. The sun guides our weather, not some cow passing co2 or you driving your SUV. The greatist green house gass is water vapor. We should ban water than. One should listen Vaclav Klaus, this is communism.

I do not agree because it doesn't go in effect until 2020. I think this bill is weak and doesn't have enough bite to make it work. I want Congress to start putting in bills that happen within the year, not 11 years down the line. It is necessary and it would help us ween off of oil, and move into new technologies. We need jobs. I live in NC where the only companies we had were textiles, tobacco, furniture, and manufacturing. We could use new industries to help us create revenue and get out of debt. If they were to do cap-and-trade and create restrictions on companies that are major emitters from passing the cost over to customers it would help the economy.
We need to get to a system of energy in this country that is not dependent on other countries. Not drilling for oil and pushing pollution on others is not as good as drilling here and controlling the pollution. Utilizing electric vehicles when the rare earth materials for batteries and magnets are controlled by China is not going to help. We could look for rare elements in our country and do more research on ways to make batteries here. We now get most of our tooling for machines from overseas because the EPA caused the cost of casting in the US become too expensive.
Having spent my life in a large corporation and being responsible for the energy cost, I can tell you that any international corporation that has taxes imposed on them higher in one place than another will move production elsewhere to compete in the world markets. Many of them already have the facilities other places with the capacity to move production at will.
All of these clowns are corrupt, that is why they don't have a Corruption Elimination Bill, please sign our petition. The right is only mad because the left now has the control of the corruption. All this effort and none on the true problem.

I consider this bill to be the one show stopper of 2009. Mr Waxman did America such a diservice when he introduced this bill.
It's a Trojan Horse that allows the Government to write themselves in on the gains of organizations in America. The operators of these have opted to shut down all commerce until they see what nonsense will come out of this bill.
The House passing this bill, sent a message to all of those in charge, that the Governemt was/is more corrupt than even they were prepared to believe.
If you wnat to see jobs return anytime soon, this bill needs to be killed immediately...

First of all the goal of this act is to restore and preserve. To use global warming as a fear tactic is non-sense. We cannot change the climate. The act creates a problem then sells you the fix. Anyone heard of "H1N1"? Everyone is not your friend the people behind this have qualities of good salesmen.

While decreasing pollution and becoming more energy efficient is a goal that we would like to work to. At a time when our economy is hurting, we need to create bills that can also help the people who are losing their jobs and feeling the burdens of trying to support their family. This bill will impose excess costs that the people and businesses of this country just can't handle right now. I'm all for change that saves tax dollars. There are ways to fully fund clean air, like drilling oil in America and using the money from our own wells to create new jobs and new green plants. Without raising taxes on already over charged utility bills. It's very simple really, you people are so blind to what's going on, it's not just about clean air, thats just a front. It's about control for the high rollers and super rich, just one more thing to make them more powerful and controlling over you. Wake up America you make me hurt. Almost all of the institutions trading permits are owned by Al Gore or Goldman Sachs. This Cap and Trade system is nothing more than government-sanctioned FRAUD. This system is starting to look more and more like a criminal enterprise than a federal program. The biggest proponent of this program was Enron. I wonder why. This bill seems perfect ways for the Mafia, money-laundererers, and terrorist financiers to scam the system and gain easy funding for their nefarious activities. Anyone who administers this program, as well as anyone in Congress who votes for this fraud, should it become law, should be investigated and maybe prosecuted for fraud. These officials could keep Bernie Madoff company.

Forcing people to change is very hard to do just wait until all the oil is gone. Then we will have to change. And then the government can make some jobs for air purification. LOL jk
I am sure that someone has mentioned this but do people realize that this bill includes every stationary carbon producing enity. If I am reading the bill right in section 700 in explains that every enity that produces 25,000 tons of CO2 are subject to this bill. Every house, resturant, store, school, hospital, manufacturing plant, everything is subject to the tax increases and credits that you need to buy. I want someone in Washington or even on the street to explain to me how this bill is going to bring this county forward.
So when is it brought to the senate? WHEN IS THE VOTE?
