Although it could use some improvement in some areas, this is the best health care reform plan I’ve read so far.

It uses a variety of free market principles to lower costs while maintaining quality, and instead of big federal expansion of power, it requires the federal government to work with states so that solutions are tailored for the residents thereof; not subjected to a “one size fits all” federal plan.

Instead of a health insurance mandate with a penalty for not having any (like H.R 3200) it incentivizes people getting care with a $2,300 tax credit for individuals and a $5,700 credit for families. The auto-enroll system in the bill would eventually achieve near universal coverage without the inefficiencies of a federal mandate.

Like I said before, though, it’s not perfect. The language calls for the creation of state based insurance exchanges (with incentives for states to pool their exchanges together), but I’d like to see the creation of a national exchange.
