Once again the power elite have decided to increase the burden on the people. It does not matter to those in Washington that we are hurting and that this will tremendously increase the cost of energy or that it will once again damage our business environment in the US. Once again our non representing representatives are pandering to the special interest and their own interest! It will be interesting to hear the outcome of the vote today. We need to kick every member out of office that votes for this bill. Its crap!!!

Agree with DMiller2911.... If this travesty of justice passes, every single "yes" vote needs to be booted out in 2010 or 2012. This is criminal, and it's got to STOP. I've been calling the undecided reps all morning & am sick of being forced to become an activist to do what the weasels in Congress (that I am paying for) are SUPPOSED to be doing! Please stand with me- lets take our country back one vote at a time!!

I have not been an activist either, but this one really takes the cake. Please tell me who these undecided reps are and how do I get a hold of them and I will add my voice to yours. Thank you

We are sitting on vast resources of oil and gas. Let's develop our own resources before we go off half-cocked with an economy destroying energy tax. I'm sick and tired of the radical-left envirowackos dictating our energy policy. Windmills and solar panels are pie in the sky at best. Want to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, drill here, drill now!

Wrong, we have less than three percent of the world supply of oil. Any effort to cash in on this would take near a decade to build and operate to a level making a difference. There is a decent amount of natural gas, however that market is prone to fluctuation and manipulation.

This is not just a massive tax increase, but a huge power grab by our government. We the people need to speak up and stop this madness. jthinkhouse; I agree we should not be sending anymore money overseas, lets use our own natural resources and drill for oil here.

Obama says yes he can, I say NO you DON'T I live in America Obama not Africa. This bill and any other bills he wants to pass will force America into a direction we will never be able to stop or come back from. This is AMERICA a FREE COUNTRY not Mr. Obama's private swing pool to serve his own interest...he needs to go live in a communist country like China he loves them so much.

until the whole world is united in finding a solution, the USA should not suffer due to the lack of others neglect to turn the corner of the next century. it is financially unreasonable to keep industry here at home compared to going to another country."eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

If your representative votes for this latest tax scheme, tell him/her you will campaign against them until your dying breath. Tell them to get some balls and stand up for what the people want, not what Nancy Pelosi is trying to shove down our throats...

Sounds like trouble in River City. Just heard that they may have pulled the bill. They need 12 more votes from a total of 17 undecided. Not good odds for Pelosi. Word is to much pressure from the home front. I hope this is true....

"Establishes a rebate program to assist low-income households residing in pre-1976 manufactured homes in purchasing new Energy Star qualified manufactured homes." - Will non-Energy star homes be slapped with a surcharge?

"Amends the Internal Revenue Code to allow certain low income taxpayers a refundable energy tax credit to compensate such taxpayers for reductions in their purchasing power ..."

40% of Americans don't pay taxes, due to income. This is a WELFARE BILL and the true redistribution of income we've been warned about.

"Requires: (1) the Administrator to implement the Energy Refund Program to give low-income households a monthly cash energy refund equal to the estimated loss in purchasing power resulting from this Act"
    - EVEN MORE WELFARE!

Provides for trading, banking and borrowing, auctioning, selling, exchanging, transferring, holding, or retiring emission allowances. "

"Requires the Administrator to: (1) establish a strategic reserve account and place into that account specified amounts (ranging from 1% to 3%) of the emission allowances for each of calendar years 2012-2050; and (2) auction such strategic reserve allowances once each quarter of each of such years."

    - Will this become the new global reserve currency? The dollar is a fiat currency, so they're thinking ... why not replace the old dollar with the NEW Carbon Credit? Both currencies are backed by nothing tangible, but smoke and mirrors. This bill states up front that it is building a New ECOnomy. You can't have a new economy without destroying the old one first!

I am an American citizen not a Global/World citizen. I don't give a rats ass what China or any of the other countries are doing. Our government and those who are pulling its strings are destroying us. The EPA is a joke, all this crap about global warming is a farce. Pelosi, Gore, and whomever else involved needs to be investigated! They are getting rich quick while the EPA has silenced their own employees [scientists] from speaking in opposition to their agenda. Our own scientist believe this is a lie. Get Ready Washington - pass the bill and start counting - it will be the trigger that starts the II American Revolution War.

Congress just passed several pieces legislation granting the Scientific community Funds - how much more in how many different ways are the going to stick their hands in our pockets? No more spending! No more Taxes! Or Tax the damn Democrats for their own legislation - let them pay for it alone. One half of this country, at least, is in opposition! We will not be ignored!

ANY Bill that slams in 600 pages right before the vote - and told to just vote on it - is simply 100% BAD NEWS.

Hopefully some Congress lackeys surely can see this as a huge red flag - and vote NO on HR 2454 (Now HR 2998).

For those Congress lackeys that vote YES - thank you for selling out the American public. Please have your letter of resignation ready. We will vote you out. We will personally lobby AGAINST you, going door to door to let everyone know there are other candidates.

I am watching this live on Cspan and what is being allowed to take place is a gross injustice. The vote today is no different than a premature ejaculation! It simply shouldnt be happening. The Republicans need to protest what is taking place on the floor. The vote must be stopped! No one has read this bill, much less the 300 pages that were created and added at 2:45 a.m. this am and voted on and passed this morning without a full house. Any one of the 300 pages can and will alter the original bill. This is NOT Justice. This is not effective government. This is a royal screw job!

This a really bad bill from all aspects. First, there is little or nothing we can do about global warming, it's a natural cycle. Second it will increase the amount of all utility bills, residential and industrial and third it is a welfare bill in disguise. The cost increase will drive more manufacturing out of the country, with a further loss of jobs. It is also one of these "midnight", crisis bills for which the Queen of the House has necome famous. She is an abomination in evey sense of the word and Waxman isn't far behind her.

I skimmed through the text (pre-amendments) and couldn't BEAR to actually dig into it! I got PISSED after reading just a few lines here and there! How is it POSSIBLE for people to go to Washington, representing a much larger group of citizens...and then yank the rug out from beneath them....AND STAY IN WASHINGTON?!
I have seen next to NOTHING posted by individual users on the multitude of sites I have peruse which says anything POSITIVE about this bill. I hope the Reps get the message...
I have my pitchfork and torch at the ready! Whosoever votes FOR this monstrosity, take heed....we will be on the move to ENSURE you are unemployed next year!

My main concern is that the average american will be taxed and then forced to pay for the increases that hit the businesses. Do you really think Wal-Mart and Grocery stores aren't going to pass on the increased energy charges to the consumer???

Who pays the most? The taxpayer.

This congress is out of control I can't believe the changes they are making to our FREEDOM. This is the land of the FREE and the home of the brave. Not all change is good. Our constitution is the rule of law. I am seeing and hearing so many changes it makes my head spin. We need to all register Independant. And vote the whole mess out.

One more nail in the coffin of the American dream... One more tool for President Obama and the Kool-Aid drinking Congress to use to exert total control over every aspect of American society and to convert this nation from an economic superpower into a developing third-world toilet...

The most important piece of legislation to come before congress in the last 100 years and these people are being forced to vote on it without time to read it or debate it for more than a couple of hours...

Insanity. Absolute insanity! Fire the lot of 'em....
