Stupid is, is what stupid does! Senators and Congressmen who vote to increase the deficit will be voted out of Congress. We the people are tired of the out of control spending and the liberal socialist agenda. Tax rates will be higher than every other country except Denmark if these bills pass. Cap and Trade, healthcare reform, take 2nd amendment gun ownership away for We the people will not tolerated.

‘Single payer’ HR676 is the best public plan. Tell congress that HR676 is a much better bill than HR3200.

There isn’t such a thing as a “best” public plan. If there is any reform to be had it is in the insurance expectation levels of consumers. Health insurance was never meant to cover every single little illness. The current “cover all” plans available have removed healthcare from the free market and thereby eliminated competition through fixed pricing. Health insurance was originally called hospitalization. And it covered catastrophic illnesses that required the services of a hospital. All other care was paid for by the user at their doctor’s office. Getting back to that concept would reduce insurance premiums and move healthcare back into the free market naturally driving down prices through healthy competition.

I’m guessing you are a product of the American public school system and have never learned anything about economics. Single payer means there is one provider who pays: the federal govt. The taxpayers fund the federal govt. I don’t want to pay for YOUR health care!

I am convinced Obama is in a panic about getting this rammed through before John Stossel does his expose on Canada’s healthcare system on 20/20 this Friday…I can just see the sweat beads forming around those purple lips! Stay tuned!

Here we go again! Let’s pass a bill we don’t need (or want) without even reading it and UNDERSTANDING what it really says. Mr. Obama – get a life and pay attention to the PEOPLE for a change. It is our agenda that counts, not yours.

  • DMiller2911 07/20/2009 2:00pm

Once we have to hurry to pass a bill! Obama is dropping in the polls so he needs to shove as much stuff through as he can before the next election. We need something done with health care but it is not a government run program because as with everything the government try to do (postal service, Social Security, Medicare,etc..) they fail! Leave this in the hands of the private sector and provide some limits and it will self regulate. Government health care is NOT the answer!

We the people need health care.

  • brcobb 07/20/2009 4:09pm

This bill is a disaster. Contrary to the President’s statements, you will not be able to keep you own policy if any copayment, deductible, etc. changes (p. 16). Also contrary to his statements, there will be rationing - no doctors can perform in-office MRIs and sonograms. Quality of care will be reduced because there are dozens of disincentives for doctors - the shortage will increase. Contact your congressional representatives and have them vote this down. We need to improve access to health care, but this is not the responsible way to do this.

At its start, in 1966, Medicare cost $3 billion. The House Ways and Means Committee estimated that Medicare would cost only about $ 12 billion by 1990 (a figure that included an allowance for inflation). This was a supposedly “conservative” estimate. But in 1990 Medicare actually cost $107 billion.
Estimates on the conservative side for National Health care are 1.6 trillion…multiply by 10 and you get a much closer estimate of its cost in 10 years

  • Homebuilt7 07/20/2009 11:04pm

This is a very bad deal comrade.

  • ggenovez 07/21/2009 4:58am

We are tackling the wrong problem. The real problem is not the lack of health insurance but the actual slush that happens behind the scenes.

I recently found out that a standard blood test for an annual exam costs my insurance company $20. This is known as the negotiated rate. If I did not have any insurance then the cost is $550 for that same test.

Lets focus on the criminal acts of health care practices over transferring the problem.

I agree, the reform should not be spending more money so that everyone has insurance but decreasing the inefficiencies so the costs come down and allow everyone to afford it.

It seems that their only solutions is more money (that we don’t have) and government run (which they have proved time an again that they can’t run something efficiently).

  • kmadey 07/21/2009 5:13am

You all want to see what government run health care looks like? Go down to your local DMV. That will be the method by which our health care will be managed. Remember this is as much about class warfare as it is about control. The people that will end up administering this “plan” will be the same people that vilify the “rich”.

Regarding the “number of Americans without health care”, exactly how does that number break down? What percentage of that number includes young working Americans that are willing to forgo insurance to have a little more spending money? What percentage of that number represents illegal aliens? And finally, if the number really is 45 million, then by my count that means that 255 million Americans have insurance!

Barack Obama, June 23, 2009, speaking on health care: “What I’ve said is, our top priority has to be to control costs.” http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/06/23/politics/main5107407.shtml

What I don’t understand is how anyone can be fool enough to believe that, once this bill is passed, the Government will suddenly find an incentive to make our individual health and welfare their top priority.

I do find it interesting that so many folks are surprised that the government is putting so many restrictions on our freedom of choice: how in the heck are they going to control us if we are wandering all over the Earth making our own choices?

  • sabutler 07/21/2009 6:55am

This Bill DIRECTLY affects small and medium size businesses…that is why Walmart and other companies are for this! It kills the desire to invest as those who have the small to medium size businesses cannot afford to pay wages and Health Insurance. This bill needs to be toned down and less of a power grab. You think unemployment is bad now. Wait until this bill goes through. 9.5% will seem wonderful!

  • cribster 07/21/2009 8:12am

We have crated a debt that will take four decades to pay off before this legislation and that’s only if citizens were left to persue their ambitions without interference which we are not. We cannot afford this!

More importantly it will be a HUGE expansion of government. The bigger government gets the less liberties we have and more taxes we pay. This bill will end prosperity and happiness in America.

We already have veteran hospitals, medicare, medicaid (which are sorely mismanaged by the government) and emergency rooms who, by law, can’t turn anyone away.

On top of that Obama signed the SCHIP bill into law by executive order even though about 70% of the population that knew about it were against it.

National Health care by any name is nothing more that a power grab. Shameful!!!

  • zhowland 07/21/2009 9:02am

Insurance is a promise of compensation for specific potential future losses in exchange for periodic payments in order to protect an entity from UNEXPECTED loss.

What this bill creates is not an insurance program, but a universal health plan mandated by the federal government. If you want to see what it creates, take a look at the UK, Canada, France, and Cuba.

Why we would do this when we have the best health system on the planet is beyond me. But even more disturbing is that entire sections of this bill are blank or “to be filled in later”. Additionally, certain politicians are in such a rush to get it pushed through, but it won’t take effect until 2013. What’s the hurry?

There is no reason for this bill. It will not make anything better, and, frankly, is unconstitutional.

You are absolutely right. And all of us who are boomers should clearly understand that this is what we aging Americans are going to be getting for health care. We are a large voting block, and someone needs to engage our power on this issue fast.

I agree with deannalee1369 – HR676 is a better option than HR3200, but it seems that the game seems to be focused on getting people so frustrated and confused that people will just give up and drop the whole thing. It very plain and clear to see that opponents of ANY type of health care reform are just making up stuff at this point!
I don’t understand people that would rather do nothing just because we can’t come up with a “perfect” system. There is no perfect system, but SOMETHING is better than nothing!! At this point, I’d vote for anything just to get the ball rolling on this thing and getting something passed!
Our goal right now is to stay persistent and not let up – for any reason!! We have to keep pushing, people!
I can tell you one thing, I’ve learned more about our country’s politicians these past 6 months than I’ve known the past 6 years!! I know who I’m NOT voting for, I can tell you that!!

  • Sully2006 07/21/2009 6:28pm

Lets just get straight to the point. We should work on fixing the health care system we have by correcting all of it’s flaws that put us where we are. Life in general is not fair, but it doesn’t help to have so many people out there abusing the system in every aspect. (Medicaid abuse, to rediculous lawsuits) We are better off keeping the governement from making our health choices for us and paying for our healtcare out of pocket, than having the bill pass with horrible choice and health choices forced on us and still paying for insufficent healthcare through taxes on things like food that we need too. Sounds like over kill to me. Paying double for electic and food to pay for healthcare that is dictated to you without choice. No Thank YOU!

  • rlongjr 07/22/2009 5:38am

As a nation we can’t afford this bill, yes health care cost are out of control, but this bill is not going to fix what is wrong with health care cost. Also and more to the main nay vote…if a bill is to be worked on and passed it should be a bill that will cover our learders as well. The Congress should have to follow what ever bill is passed just like every other American will have to do, after all they are not all that special. So to Congress I say VOTE NO ON H.R. 3200
