The funny thing is I find that to be an outstanding compliment. To recognize I am in fact persistent and tenacious to the point that I will never stop, never give up, never quit in my fight to defend liberty no matter the cost…it gives me hope for you. Thats all I want Lucas, liberty. The issue is this, I’m a Libertarian, and the hard part is keeping the rules set so we all live by the same ones. I know thats not the case in our country today but the entitlement mentality in this country, the lack of individual responsibility, individual accountability and the feeling that you are “owed” anything other than 1. primary education, 2. freedom from discrimination (race, color, creed etc) has to end. Opportunity, its all we are guaranteed….some have better circumstance? So what? Life is not fair. Grow up.
Again….look to the right….21% Support…this sight is decidedly left leaning…1657 approve…6172 oppose…I understand your frustration, America has spoken….and they don’t want a public option. Every poll thats been published has shown that.

Well, as suspected, you skirt the principles of what I said and attempted to turn the focus. I challenge you to refute the facts of what I say. Whether brother B is on welfare or not is actually incidental. Whatever the particular circumstances, the facts remain the same. Can you imagine a circumstance where these principles would not apply?
In his recent book Why Our Health Matters, universal healthcare proponent Dr. Andrew Weil, MD, admits “I have learned that in medicine, as in the world at large, people believe what they want to believe, and they refuse to believe what they do not want to believe, no matter how much evidence there is to the contrary.”
You, my friend, cannot deny the evidence can you? You can only hope to attempt to shift the focus of the facts to inflamitory remarks to continue a debate that is in no way about the principles of what started the discussion in the first place.
Perhaps you could clarify your point more succinctly.
It seems that most supporters of this bill (in any form) rely on their desire to have “affordable” healthcare for all. When in reality, any type of government involvement constitutes a socialistic style government. Quoting from Dr. Weil’s book again, “The examples that America should follow to reform its delivery system and provide health care for all are those of Canada and the industrialized European nations, including Germany… In Scandinavia, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Canada, people are much happier than we are about health care.”
We declared our independence from the UK in order to form the world’s first, and only, truly free nation. Do supporters now prefer the system of government in those nations over that of the US. That is the real choice you make with the support of this bill. We all need to choose one or the other. I choose to be free. If you choose otherwise, move to one of those countries.
You and I, sir, have very different perspectives when it comes to “freedom.” I believe people should be able to live their lives FREE from worry about whether or not they can afford to cover their medical expenses. The insurance companies have worked hard to brainwash us into thinking that we’re choosing freedom. Our country, and this system, are far from “free.”
P.S. If socialism works better, and in many cases it does, (our children’s public schools are free), why not adopt it?

Instead of trying to pass A bill, why not try passing the RIGHT bill?
It’s impossible to legislate enough laws to ever make everyone “free from worry” about affording anything. People will always have problems and worry about something. It is no more the government’s responsibility to make us free from worry than it is for them to make sure we are free from feeling angry when someone cuts us off in traffic.
If you think otherwise then you do not understand what freedom is.
We can work toward a better health care system that ensures you don’t lose everything because you get sick. We can make sure that paying for Health care is not a decision between health and food for our children. Freedom is only a word and each of us has our interpretation. I want the Freedom not to worry about whether my family can afford health care. Their welfare is not a business and I don’t want the bottom line to determine whether they live or die. The government can and should reform a health care system that is broken. The US has the best medical facilities in the world, yet the system by which we access those facilities is disgraceful. I not only understand what Freedom means to me I know what it mean to those who suffer under our current health care system.

Your example, public schools, has a bit of a problem. If your criteria for “best schools” is based on opportunity, test scores, % of students that get into top colleges, etc. You will find that private schools are better than public schools.
I, too, don’t understand what you call freedom. If I had a free choice, I wouldn’t need to purchase ANYTHING from a health insurance company . . . as it stands now, like it or not, I know that my only option to avoid complete bankruptcy when I become seriously ill or injured is to subscribe to an insurance plan and trust that when I really need it, they’ll back me up. I’ve been given very little reason to trust them in the past, and I know I’m not the only one.
To sum it up, I don’t know anyone better equipped for saving the nation from these pirates than the government. . . it’s their job to free us from parasites like the insurance companies.

Health care insurance is only expensive because of government regulation. If not for the government, health care insurance would be dirt cheap. If you get in a car accident it can cost the insurance company thousands of dollars to repair the vehicle and pay for medical expenses. Why do you think car insurance is so affordable yet health care insurance is so expensive?
Please do some research and then tell me health insurance would be dirt cheap if not for the government. Car insurance in most states is mandated by the government (No Fault Insurance). My childern are not cars and their health care is not the same as repairing my automobile.
Spoken like a true spokesperson for the industry. Auto Insurance is regulated and is required by law for any vehicle on the road. Special coverage is often required for the purchase of certian vehicles. But you already know that.

Let me get this straight.
We’re going to pass a health care plan written by a committee whose head says he doesn’t understand it, passed by a Congress that hasn’t read it but exempts themselves from it, signed by a president that also hasn’t read it, and who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn’t pay his taxes, overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that’s nearly broke.
What possibly could go wrong?

Unfortunately, yes(!), that is how most if not all bills are passed. All I can say is, ‘at least the American people are starting to wake up on all of this mess.’

I have a few questions, how many people are in a committee?? Wait there is more than one, possibly the other people do, and they are the ones who wrote it. When you are working are you the one that does all the work, or do your employees do most of it. He may also not understand it all, but he probably does understand both. The second point you make is that is passed by a congress even though it exempts themselves, but wait! They already have government provided healthcare, so why does that matter to them. Then how do you know that the president probably didn’t read it?? I think you just don’t agree with our presidents idea, and you state an opinion without a fact, and many people take it as a fact. Also what does it matter that our president smokes, you should have the right to that no matter who you are.
OK first of all, Congress members have health care paid for by the government, but it’s not provided by the government. They have a pool of options of PRIVATELY RUN health care… paid by tax dollars. That’s different than programs that are government-run, like Medicare, or the proposed public option.

Thirdly, we don’t agree with the president’s idea? OK, couple things… first of all, IF that were true, that would be irrelevant. The president has little say in what goes in the bill(s), and what is left out. Secondly, this is America… we have a right to disagree with the president when he and congress are stepping out of their constitutional authority by trying to provide health care (that’s not the job of any branch of the federal government according to the constitution).
Lastly, the fact that he smokes may or may not be relevant, but smokers are a major reason for high costs of health insurance and care.
Gee! Does that mean that I can smoke too? Great!!! Only what I want to smoke is ‘illegal’!!! Hard for me to agree to let you have your smoke when I can’t have mine.
You don’t have any point about the treasury chief who didn’t pay his “full” taxes, what does that matter. That does not have anything to do with the bill. Also the last time I checked our surgeon general is not obese. The only good point is that it is financed by a country that’s nearly broke, but it is really time for a change and i think that we can make it.
