Love it – you should run for office and take the place of the loony left democrats who truly feel if they pass a government run health care bill that they will stay in office.
2010 is around the corner and they are out!!! We will put in anyone who is against a public run health care and or anyone who will vote to recind the passed bill.
I find your comment interesting. Are you saying that you think that health care should be denied for people that can’t afford it? Why is it that as a society, there are so many who think that our government should spend gobs of money on our military and funding wars (like the war in Iraq) and we have such an objection to taking care of the health of our people?
I certainly agree with the concept of living within your means, but please understand that we live in a country today where our current healthcare system is the most expensive in the world and yet we get so little out of it. I read a recent study published on bankruptcy and over 60% of bankruptcies in this country are caused by a medical problem suffered by someone in the family. The amazing part of this study to me was that over 70% of those people who went bankrupt because of health issues had health insurance. Meanwhile our premiums continue to go up…Enjoy your crappy healthcare…while you can still afford it.
suburb77022, if that is true then please site an example. If that were true the press would be all over it with their push for health care reform. No one has shown any documented proof of any of these people being denied health care in the US.
allow me to correct you, if you need healthcare and have no insurance, you start out in the Emergency room of the hospital, then, depending on the hospital, profit or non-profit (you know, have insurance, don’t have insurance), you are admitted and then the diagnostic test will be given, i.e., chest pain=stress test, abdominal pain=xray, ct, or whatever. If you need meds, hopefully they are not for the mentally disabled, you can get some at Walmart on their huge price list for starting out at $4. However, no doctor is going to see you in his private practice without insurance, copayment up first, or the office visit up first. I am not sure where you get your facts, but perhaps if you read the bill, you would see the long awaited need for it. Canada and Europe have been doing it for years, I just wonder what took us so long?
SO you are saying that people receive care if they need it?
Thanks RNforthepeople!! I have to add that because private practice Drs. can turn down seeing the uninsured, those people end up using the ER for primary care, which first of all is unsafe. Secondly, it is more expensive! This raises costs for all of us.
It’s almost hard to conceive of how absolutely incorrect each of those statements are.
I disagree with you. Many times certain diagnostic tests are not ordered by doctors due to the cost of these tests. Therefore, doctors are in effect discriminating in the health care from one person to the next due to the ability to pay for the “better” test. I had that happen personally with a simple blood test and I have good private health insurance.
Medicine…If you are above the poverty level Medicaid program eligibility, but have no health insurance with prescription drug coverage you have to pay for all of your medicines. The costs of some of these medicines monthly is exorbitant for some people and they cannot afford them. Sometimes some drug companies will allow people to apply for a hardship/economic help with this. Yes, if you are completely poverty stricken you can get help with your medications. But, no, if you don’t qualify for Medicaid you can’t go to some window and say that you can’t afford your prescription and they say “here you go”. Many do without them.
The evil in this country is an entitlement/victim mentality. This country prospered until the New Deal and free stuff was given to people. Slow decline ever since.
Yep, it was SO much better before the New Deal. I’ll bet you miss those good old days of starving widows and orphans (before Social Security survivorship benefits), the Dust Bowl, families losing everything because there was no unemployment insurance, etc. Yep, good times, good times.
Make sure you decline your social security and medicare when you are of age – you don’t want to be called a victim.
“[we] will always have the poor”
> The evil in this country is an entitlement/victim mentality.
That evil allowed liberalists to become entrenched
> This country prospered until the New Deal
nObama is FDR on speed.
This country has still NOT recovered from the DAMAGE OF FDR.
nObama already has incurred a dozen thousand billion dollars of debt … and he has had an imperceptible positive effect
Sarazona – you sound like you are totally against the current system.
However the capitalist system is the main reason that we have all these diagnostic tests and new “live saving medicines”.
Sure, someone may have to pay $200 a month for some pills that KEEP THEM ALIVE, but those pills didn’t exist 10 years ago. However by the time their children need those pills the patent will have expired and the children will get them for the lowest possible cost.
See there is a way that all this works out pretty well and it doesn’t move the whole country toward bankruptcy.
Everyone just wants “free” stuff. They want every little band-aid to be free.
Anyone in America that wants health care receives health care.
“Evil that preys on the sick and dying”
In America if someone needs a diagnostic test they get it even if they have no money or insurance.
In America if someone needs medicine they will get medicine, money or not.
You are making stuff up,
Health insurance is not a right. My family is full of health care providers of all types. No one is turned away. Please do not tell me that you want to require people to gamble on other peoples health. If you want to pay some company to bet that you willnot get sick while you bet that you will get sick, go ahead. Just do not ask others to do it unless they want to. We do not have a right to health insurance, grow up people.
> Health insurance is not a right.
true.

stop using liberalese
Instead use proper distinctions: health SERVICES
One’s duty to one’s self and one’s family is caring for one’s health (and family).
One MAY PURCHASE health services from others.
One MAY NOT enslave health service employees.
One who ‘thinks’ otherwise is patently mentally ill.
Try working and providing your own like we did. I paid into a health plan and raised 4 children. I am NOT interested in paying for everyone else. We have bailed out mortgages, cash for clunkers, extended unemployment benefits and food stamps so we must stop somewhere! People whine and moan about everything and then go out buy something they can’t afford expecting the taxpayers to pick up the tab for health care. Hey, have a nice day……..

Actually, you’re the one thats ignorant. This bill will give you an option. Whether to keep what you have… let me repeat KEEP WHAT YOU HAVE…. or buy into a plan backed by the government. Millions of americans make too much money to be covered under medicare, and may not have a plan supplied by their employer or can’t afford the plan from an employer or been denied, by the provider, from their employer. Those people are filling up emergency rooms because they have no where else to go. When they can’t pay, either the hospitals lose money or the insurance companies lose money. Bottom line, hospitals and insurances companies aren’t going to lose money. They are gonna get it from somewhere I assure you, and one guess what that means…if you are already paying…. you can pay more! Ta-Da!!! I’m not even gonna touch “what food you can eat”…. nothing in this legislation addresses that. That is just made up out of thin air.

Have a nice day. If you thought the LA RIOTS were bad YOUR IN FOR A BIG SURPRISE. * just a little note that was only in LA – THIS MY FRIEND IS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA – AND “WE THE PEOPLE” ARE PIST ..
Justin… in real life – do you have friends? Because you seem to be a very hostile and negative person.
Obama never said during the campaign that he was for single payer health care… in fact he said manymanymany times that he was against it, and that was how he separated himself from Hillary.
Medicare is broke(n) because ding health care costs are too high, not because the gov’t doesn’t run it well.
Health care should not be a zero-sum game. The peace of mind and protection that affordable health care provides is worth far more than any profit margin.
And about immigrants? come on…. do some real research. Not Fox News research.
you said “Obama never said during the campaign that he was for single payer health care… in fact he said manymanymany times that he was against it, and that was how he separated himself from Hillary.”
Read Obama’s Lips “I happen to be a proponent of a single payer health care system”
