7/17/2009--Introduced.Directs the Secretary of Energy to establish a social and behavioral sciences research program to identify and understand social and behavioral factors influencing energy consumption and acceptance and adoption rates of new energy technologies, and to promote the use

Official Summary

7/17/2009--Introduced.Directs the Secretary of Energy to establish a social and behavioral sciences research program to identify and understand social and behavioral factors influencing energy consumption and acceptance and adoption rates of new energy technologies, and to promote the use of the results of social and behavioral research to improve the development and application of energy technologies. Requires the Secretary to appoint or designate a Director of Social and Behavioral Research to carry out such program. Requires the Director to:
(1) develop a research plan in consultation with the Advisory Committee established by this Act; and
(2) review such plan every five years and revise it as appropriate. Instructs the Secretary to provide grants in support of social and behavioral research. Requires the Advisory Committee to:
(1) advise the Secretary and the Director on priority areas for research;
(2) assist the Director in the development of the research plan; and
(3) provide other assistance and advice as requested by the Secretary or the Director.
