I was wondering about the rest of you who have ran out of benefits, and if you should keep filing the weekly claim? Even though the claim has been exhausted and you haven’t any income. If HR 3404 is passed, will there be any “extra” “catches” to eligibility? Probably on a state by state basis. I went to an interview last week. Got the rejection phone call 2 days ago. It was for a temporary position cleaning toilets and picking garbage up. I couldn’t believe it. Over twenty five years of heavy construction building experience, and can’t even get a job picking up garbage or cleaning toilets. And the interview panel really thought they were the “privileged superior beings” also. Arrogant A holes!
Don’t beat yourself up over not being the one picked, although it would have been nice in it just being a job ! look on the upside, its their lost.
I was working a part-time self-employed gig 4-weeks ago for a catholic school
helping out getting the school cleaned for the new school year, the business mgr. agreed to pay me so much a hour, after two weeks he presents me a check
that was $3.00 less on the hour then he offered. when I ask why it was short
he denied that he said he would pay agreed amount, and then starts the bashing
saying "I wasn’t all that’ and maybe thats the reason I haven’t found work in over a year. He knew of me from another catholic school where I was layed off from, I was the Maintenance Supervisor there. Next post……..
because I called him on short changing me, I guess he figured having his job
and title made him "a privileged superior being’ I guess this is where arrogants plays its part and could say what he wanted, "Well not being a permament employee so could I, so my reply to him was He had know idea of my true core values or skills, I understood he was looking for some help in swinging a Mop and moving furniture around on a temporary basis, things a trained monkey could do, if I were there performing my true skills and talents, he wouldn’t have been able to afford me, and none of these are of swinging a mop or being a mover ! little to say that he lost a working stiff
that day, that he couldn’t afford to lose over run-off of his Mouth and being a cheat.
Jelee, and others.. I was able to file like normal once again.. Claim button was there and then went to RB form.. I wonder why the difference>.
its strange Melissa, did your payment summary have anything change on it.
like I said before my begin and end date did on mine.
maybe its just a fluke in where your claim is filed from?
mine is with the mansfields office.
Melissa
I believe you, Melissa…ODJFS website isn’t flawless.
I probably won’t bother to call them til a bill passes.
Just hoping we won’t have to wait 4-6 weeks for funds…because I’ll be sitting in the dark w/out phone or internet!!
Ct is still laying off people but are rate hasn’t change? Unreal
I woke up this morning thinking about labor day, the end of summer, and no job with winter around the corner.
For the jobless, Labor Day is hardly a holiday
WASHINGTON – Every day it’s a battle. The nearly 15 million unemployed Americans won’t enjoy Labor Day as a relaxing respite from work. Instead, they’ll once again need to prepare to get up, hit the pavement and keep hunting for a job.
As the jobless rate nears 10 percent, even those fortunate enough to be employed fret about keeping their jobs. But for those without them, it’s a daily struggle with emotional and economic distress.

I had to kick myself in the ass but I am going to try to enjoy the holiday.I have some stuff we can cook on the grill here. I hope all of you can try to do the same.
Happy labor day everyone.
jelee, thanks for the post. And for you it was a catholic church employee whom gave you the “better than now attitude”. That goes to show, there are no boundaries to this phenomenon that is happening. And even at the house of the lord, the gall of that sick minded individual, to be so uncaring and pompous.
I did come to have faith in aleast one thing from this incident,
The pen is mighter then the sword’ the principle is a Nun, and in a catholic
school thats not attached to a church, so theres No priest, she is the head person and final say of everything ! I wrote her a letter about the incident and The lesser values of life in which this man that walks
their hallways and has dealings with many people on behalf of the school showed to me, one week later, I recieved a letter from the Sister apoloizing and informing me that Mr. so & so was no longer employed at the school, he had beed released, and there was a check made out to me for the ex-amount he shorted me of. and hoped my services could again be hired in the future.

2 Out of 5 Californians Jobless
California Budget Project executive director Jean Ross recommended Congress adopt a second extension of unemployment insurance benefits. Those checks pay between $200 and $1,800 a month depending on a worker’s previous earnings.

I just read “The Mystical Life of Jesus” by Sylvia Browne.
I found it very enlightening.

Economy: The Worst Is Yet to Come? – ABC News
According to the video..We have 2 choices ..Recession turns into a Depression..or it’s going to be Hyper-inflation..
abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=8485441
ohionoeb,
I haven’t figure out how it is going to be Hyper-inflation? You have U.S. companies competing with other countries on price of products and you have have U.S. income wages not keeping up with the current cost of living. You have a high amount of workers with house payments that doesn’t allow for extreme increases in the basic cost of living such as food, utilities, etc. You know that companies are going to lag on giving their employees raises to compensate for the increase in inflation so the demand will keep falling. I say if you are going to have Hyper-inflation you will also have a depression coming.
GOOD NEWS FROM THE WALL ST JOURNAL:
A Long To-Do List Awaits Lawmakers
The crowded calendar may force Democratic priorities such as climate change and financial regulation to the sidelines, for this year at least. At the same time, less prominent initiatives — such as a student-loan overhaul, an extension of jobless benefits and a reworking of the estate tax — stand a good chance of making it to the president’s desk.
Lawmakers are expected to pass a measure ensuring that unemployed workers can apply for jobless benefits beyond the end of the year.

awesome news…perhaps the best news I’ve heard lately!
A number of advocacy groups are calling for more jobless benefits.
Democrats have taken their eye off the economy — a major issue for voters — as they try to push through long-term initiatives on health care and climate change

The “Democrats haved taken their eye off the economy”?!!
The Rethuglians haven’t accomplished anything but hatemongering, deception and other unsavory tactics to divert attention from the fact that the Bush/Cheney gang destroyed our economy.
It will be interesting to see how many of the ‘Party of NO’ support another extension.

Lets All hope Congress gets back to what should be the number 1 priority for this Nation .. The Economy-JOBS,JOBS,JOBS…
Let’s keep up some positive energy that H.R. 3404 passes next week – I have a strong feeling that it will. I’m sure the government has to realize how many people are impacted by the unemployment situation. I want to encourage everyone to try and think positive – things will work out next week – you’ll see! I think we will have a better chance of landing a job in 2010, so the next extension will help! Kudos to Congressman James McDermott for introducing and sponsoring this bill! God bless everyone, and please know you are not alone!
