florida and all— here is my concern also… since this will not be retroactive and if they take near half as long as the last extension to get checks out—- what good would that do and it would be basically making everyone fall even further behind on base bills/costs… to survive… so what we supposed to do? i been without now for almost two months.

One thing I learned after getting laid off from one of the best and longest job I had and thought it was long term is that you can not depend on anyone but yourself and your family. We all need to think of either how to cut our monthly expenses or figure out a way to pay those monthly expenses when unemployment insurance runs out. Good luck.
For those of you that say why should your states congressmen/senators vote this bill in when your state doesn’t qualify…….they should vote it in because, if voted in as is, any of the unqualified states could end up qualifying during the 13-20 week period and it would bring funds to those states at that time. WHY on earth would you feel better knowing that NONE of the states will get an extension?? Doesnt’ make sense at all! How about instead of wishing the entire country ill fate, call your congressman/senators and demand that they fight for an extension for the whole country?!?! I can’t believe people would just sit back and say “oh well, since I probably won’t get it, I’m going to show a lack of effort to make sure that nobody gets it”. WHAT is wrong with our world today?!?!?!! Come on people, band together already!

A bill offered by Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash., and expected to pass easily would provide 13 weeks of extended unemployment benefits for more than 300,000 jobless people who live in states with unemployment rates of at least 8.5 percent and who are scheduled to run out of benefits by the end of September.
“It is likely the exhaustion rate will continue to increase in coming months” as the unemployment rate continues to rise, he said.
Stettner predicted that Congress will likely have to continue extending jobless benefits through 2011.

Whatever dude i really dont care. So let me get this straight and then im ending it here i dont wanna hear it ever again. If you had 2-3 kids and your state got the unemployment for 13 weeks you will still right everyone to extend to all.
If you read what i wrote. I said to me2unemployed. i said " If he got the benifits and i didnt and he would still write people to help us then i take back my comments about my family first"

If you got your benifits david would you keep fighting for others who didnt honeslt answer yes or no. i dont want a whole paragraph just yes or no. If its yes then like i said i take back to comment. But if its no then who is selfish
This bill takes into consideration everyone. The states will qualify at some point if unemployment levels reach 8.5%. Economist indicates the national level will rise beyond 10% in the next few months prompting most to qualify in near future like eb.
Are you jealous of your neighbor because he has a job? Because he has an income? Do you call him selfish? Change your mind set . You can be can have everything and more if you will only stop the selfish jealous thoughts.
im not blaming anyone on the board. Im pissed off between this crap worrying in 2 months we wont have money… My cousin dieing in iraq. Yea people have it worse. But then the goverment should do something..

JMatzelle57 you worry to much. Calm down dear. We are all stressed. You are going to give yourself an ulcer. Hug your children. It made me feel better :). This bill will pass- BOTH house and senate. Both parties, who despite the cost, will vote for it. They have no choice. I have no worries about it passing. The other option (not passing it) would be devasting to way too many people. Especially, when Congress has shown their mega-stimulus bill has done extremely little in reality to put people back to work and create new jobs- yet it has helped line the pockets of those who got us into this mess to begin with- the banks, the car companies- wall street. Until there is a plan in place to get people off the benefits or jobs begin to return, they must extend them. With that being said, Congress must also address an incentive for hiring and a plan for people to return to work. Thankfully, that will be a separate debate at another time. I honestly don’t see extensions into 2011.
I heard of a $8.00 an hour job, Got in line at 6:30, they ran out of applications before I got to the door. You guys try craigslist under gigs? $75.00 $100.00 there adds up. HR 3548 is to get money to those that exhausted UI, EUC and EB fast. So they can argue over HR 3404. But anyways fighting amoung ourselves won’t help, we need to fight for each other. Hold the Clowns resoncible..Actualy they have to pass unemployment bills or all that money they gave wall street will be a waste, If a person has no money they can’t pay bills or buy stuff they don’t need..That causes more job losses and even less tax revenues for both the Feds and the states.
PA has increase every month since January 2009. July & August were 8.5 and above, September 30th new numbers come out. If passed, PA may qualify if we are still above 8.5. That being said, I don’t think it’s fair to say those with less than 8.5 are hurting any less. No matter what your state rate is, each one unemployed wants and JOB and each one have bills to pay!
Sorry JMatzelle57, everyone is hurting terrible. We all need to fight together, I agree. But I also understand david’s side. While I do agree this country needs to fix the healthcare, what we all need to do is tell them to work on the JOBS and UNEMPLOYMENT first!! I can’t understand for the life of me how our government can say things are getting better when jobs are still being lost?? Okay, we instead of 500,000 we lost 200,000 – it’s still a NEGATIVE! I honestly feel the numbers are going down because companies are hitting a “skeleton” crew level. They’re simple not that many left to lay off unless they close your doors!
WE THE PEOPLE need to join together and fight for “OUR” rights. Congress has jobs, so what do they care. Unemployment is bipartian and we should all join together for this!!!

They have been trying to stop the jobs from being lost but its not working. They have been trying to keep the price of houses from going down by helping some buy a house, putting a freeze on foreclosures, lowering mortgage interest rates. They have been trying to get the banks to loan or refinance houses to make it easier on the home owners but the banks are keeping the money to survive. They are even starting to increase the tax on some items coming into this country like tires. But all of this is coming too late, they should have done this all at once, not little by little. Once the price of assets starts to go down its very hard to reverse it.
Any thoughts on how long it will take for the monies to get to the people once this is passed? Thanks.
