It is not a function of government to supply water to areas. there is no Constitutional power for that.
Congress has the power of the purse. It also has powers to regulate interstate commerce. Thus constitutionally, it absolutely has power to provide funds for the construction of water facilities that will once again provide water to the nation’s leading state of produce. Apparently you haven’t noticed that prices have skyrocketed since areas have become arid. In order to maintain interstate commerce, this facility should be built so that water can once again be provided to farmers, creating jobs, and stabilizing prices in produce markets. Markets can not always reach efficiency on their own, this is why interstate commerce and power of the purse exists, like it or not.
Agreed! In too many cases, additional legislation is simply power given to the government and taken from the people.
Whomever disagrees with this bill obviously doesn’t know much about Riverside, CA. The area has been shut off to water to the area, and instead sold to LA County, where they enjoy the water. CA is water-starved. I am all for limited government, but a water system needs to be installed. Too many farmers and people are loosing their jobs here. They need water!!!
