H.R. 3962, and it’s senate version, would create a system to require adults (over age 19, U.S. citizens, not incarcerated) to enroll themselves and dependent children in a plan through the state-wide Health Help Agency (HHA) unless they provide evidence of enrollment or coverage through Medicare, a health insurance plan offered by the Department of Defense, an employee benefit plan through a former employer (i.e. retiree health plans), a qualified collective bargaining agreement, the Department of Veterans Affairs, or the Indian Health Service. There may by a religious exemption under this proposal. Each adult would have the responsibility to enroll each child in a plan. Dependent children include individuals up to age 24 claimed by their parents for deductions in the tax code.

I don’t need to be required to have insurance since there’s not a real and valid reason for that.

You know not one of these bills actually address Health Care Costs, they address Health Insurance Costs, which are 2 different beasts entirely. If we could get the actual costs of health care under control then perhaps we wouldn’t need insurance at all. Many of us who have been forced to file bankruptcy due to the extreme costs we’ve accrued because of chronic illness or a catastrophic event, would have been willing to pay for those medical costs had they been within our means in the first place.

I agree, as my mom says "I think it’s time to make our public servants real public servants, reduce their wages to $10.00 an hr while they are serving, deny them any perks, if they violate any of those issues they are automatically impeached and replaced by the opposing candidate with the second highest votes.

We American citizens should be afforded the exact same health benefits as our esteemed Senators, representatives and all US officials. They get to vote themselves raises during these economic times and act as though they deserve them, that somehow they are better than us. Not one of them is better than us, all they want is to better their careers and see how much money and perks they can accrue from lobbyists and special interests groups who are more than happy to pay them off. Our Government appears to be becoming more and more immoral and corrupt as each day passes. American citizens should get the same equal health benefits as our elected officials, if they can’t agree to that, that is just one more reason we need to fire them all and give someone else a chance to treat us as equals.
