Official Summary

11/7/2009--Introduced.Extends eligibility for the transfer of educational assistance entitlement under the Post-9/11 educational assistance program to those former members of the Armed Forces who:
(1) retired on or after September 10, 2001, and on or before July 31, 2009; or
(2) medically retired or separated on or after September 10, 2001, due to a disability determined to be service-connected. Provides special rules for individuals entitled to Post-9/11 educational assistance as well as to basic educational assistance under the Montgomery GI Bill educational assistance program due to service on or before September 10, 2011. Establishes the authorized monthly housing stipend amount for individuals who receive Post-9/11 educational assistance and pursue an approved program of education offered in whole or in part through distance learning.
