I am a 99er but I found that even through they didnt add additional tiers they will pay you the remaining balance in your claim. I had $1700.00 remaining for my claim year so now when I go on the website it says I have these funds available but they just havent been deposited yet. Before it was saying that I was paid the total amount in my claim and I had no more benefits available. Maybe this is some hope for others.

I agree, 2 years is a very long time not to find a job. My husband was out of work for 3 years due to epileptic seizures, and finally had surgery to correct them 2 years ago. He was given permission to return to work a year after the surgery, and found a job not even two months later, and he makes a great living. He didn’t just submit resume’s online though…he hit the pavement, went in to businesses dressed professionally and handed his resume’s to the highest person available. He called back on every resume he submitted and requested interviews, and he’s educated. It is tough out there, no doubt about it. But there are jobs out there (however low paying some of them may be) for those who are willing to work them. I do hope that those who have only been on for 26 weeks though, are allowed the extension.

I guess writing Henry Reid and putting pressure on him to pass this bill as a stand alone is the thing to do at this point since he could either make or break this bill. Write Senator Reid!! :) I hope this passes!!!!

“Forty states have fewer jobs now than five years ago”
“Overall, the United States lost 4.51 million private-sector jobs from mid-2005 to mid-2010, it said. The study used U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data from the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.”

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN2622998620100726

when you add to that the fact that 150,000 jobs a month need to be created just to keep up with birthrates and legal immigrantion you can see how we ended up in so much trouble. 150,000 jobs times 60 months(5 years) give us another 9 million unemployed people.

lordgotmilk,

I also file through ODJFS and when i checked earlier in the week, my pending filings were also shown as “denied”. I also tried to contact them to figure out if I would be receiving my retro or not, but I was not able to get through to a human on the spaghetti twist phone system they have setup and it just kept hanging up on me..

So we are ok then is what you are saying if these are listed “denied” ?

thanks bud..

jrhill

Every time I’ve called I’ve brought up that those are showing as denied and was told that it’s because their program hasn’t gone in and processed it yet. They told me if I didn’t see a change by this Friday, to call back in. I’ll keep you updated on this if anything changes, but as of now it’s still showing denied on mine as well. That works for me anyways, because while on hold, it puts me in front of the computer long enough to really dig around looking for jobs I wouldn’t find elsewhere.

Thank you for the idea. I just sent him an e-mail urging him to pass any type of stand-alone bill. I hope everyone will do the same!

i keep reading reports of companies not wanting to hire individuals who are unemployed….one of them being sony. an article i read this morning stated that it’s printed in the “want-ad”…“NO UNEMPLOYED CONSIDERED”. can you guys tell me about that? who, what, when, where and why? of all the things i’ve seen happen during this crisis, hearing companies take that position is the most unbelievable and unexplainable. i’d love to understand why and if possible, not favor such companies with my business.

Does this bill do away with Concurrent Retirement and Disability Pay for Vets?

I will not hold my breath for this to pass.

June 28. Have been borrowing money for gas and groceries. Today I went out my door and saw two police cars in our complex (I live in a townhouse). They were evicting one of my neighbors. Their furniture is still sitting out in the yard. Next month It will be me unless I get some kind of aid. I am getting very depressed. I pray I can get a job or some relief.

The Unemployed of America will remember in November who ruined their lives and starved their children. Repukes are going down, big time. It’s time to clear the House and Senate from the one who destroy this Country and are killing an American Dream.

I wanted to get back with everyone and share my glimmer of hope. After all these months of worry, tears, prayers and doing without I finally landed a job! Yeah!! Better pay than what I was laid off at, with a 6month guarantee and an excellent wage after that! Well it’s back to eating Bondo and Paint for me…… Also, In Ohio I had registered by phone for the extension on 7-24-10 and had back pay in my account by 7-28-2010….. prayers and continued pressure on the powers that be for the 99’ers. For the 99’ers Rachel Maddow’s show on 7-28-10 talked about how the emails-phone calls and letters are being heard and that unions are organizing and paying for and transporting folks to nominations and midterm relection parties!!!! keep screaming!!!! your worthy, you are not bums-or lazy- your Americans who need help…God Bless

Watch out, you just might be the next to lose your job. If there is no extension of unemployment, everyone will be effected even you and your big mouth. So stop judging people unless you walked in their shoes. This Country is going down because of jerks like you. Nothing further.

dgrobinson0226 06/29/2010 2:25am

I just read that the House will vote on a stand alone extension today, should it pass, it will give the Senate time to take up the measure before the July 4th recess. I pray something is done this time!

Wow, that is really sad. Now that angers me since I have tons of their products. I support them and here they will not hire someone that can start today and appreciate having a job. That just makes me wonder how many companies are not willing to hire unemployed. I am also curious of thier reasoning for this horrible decision. See if I buy their products any longer. A company that can not help out people in the Contry they sell to is a company that can go out of business as far as I am concerned.

whatsgoingon 06/29/2010 3:59am

Everyone just needs to ignore Genesee. You guys are getting upset over some form troll. His purpose is to piss everyone off and were just putting the fuel on the fire. We are giving him exactlly what he wants. Arguing with him is like arguing with a two year old. Well, actually a two year old argues better than him. Just ignore this idiot and don’t give him the satisfaction. We have bigger problems to worry about other than dealing with trouble makers with no grounds to base their opinion on.

jmax929 04/18/2010 9:21am

My state has Tier 4, however the unemployment rate in Texas is 8.2%,it has to be 8.5% and over for them to give us more unemployment. This still presents an obstacle. So what do we do now? Something other than Tiers must be done.

I was laid off even though I had more seniority than most of my co-workers. I believe that I was singled out because of my age and the fact that I was making more money than they were. Loyalty means nothing so why did I work so hard and bite the bullet everyday just to go to a job where I knew they had it in for me. Today it is all about the dollar and how cheap will you work for me. Of course I would rather be working at my old job because I was bringing home a paycheck and had benifits. I was paying my taxes and contributing to the good of our country. What good did it do? Where did my money go? Please give us what we earned!

H.R. 5618 The Restoration of Emergency Unemployment Compensation Act

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/29/unemployment-benefits-hou_n_628627.html

leslierickard 06/29/2010 6:50am

The House will be voting on their version of a stand alone bill today, it is called the Restoration of Emergency Unemployment Act, I have not found an ID number for it yet, still looking. It will be the 13th bill up for consideration today which means it will probably not be discussed until after 4:00 pm eastern time.

Abaratarrr 06/29/2010 7:33am

Debbie Stabenow’s (D-Michigan) standalone unemployment extension bill has already been introduced. It will now be up to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev) as to whether Stabenow’s unemployment extension
bill is brought to the floor of the Senate for debate or a “unanimous consent” vote and when.

Senator Reid has previously expressed that he prefers to keep the unemployment benefits extension provisions of the bill included in the broader “American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act of 2010″ or “Extenders” bill and intends to set it aside and move onto other business for the next few weeks in order to pressure Republicans to vote for the entire package of provisions when he returns to it.

So, while Senator Stabenow’s standalone unemployment extension bill could be entertained by the Senate soon, it will be up to Reid whether he chooses to bring it up for consideration and when he wants to do so.
